When newbie players are asking me who to use when they are still at low level, I just say build Xiangling, you wont go wrong with her.

My advice would be to use/wish for the characters that you love instead of caring about what people say. No character is a bad character, they can all do good damage with some investment. Might not be crazy good damage but you don't need that to have fun or defeat enemies, so just use your favourite characters and don't listen to people when they say XY character is trash. Also, don't try to rush through the entire game, just do everything at your own pace and have fun exploring and doing quests!

My main advice would be to take what people say is meta with a grain of salt. When people talk about meta in this game, they are pretty much just talking about floor 12 of the spiral abyss, which means units are valued almost solely on how they can kill things as fast as possible, or support other characters in doing so. This is why a character like Qiqi, who only does healing, is so undervalued. But for casual play, dedicated healers like Qiqi or Barbara can be a massive help while clearing through the story and exploring the world, IMO more so than the more "meta" healers like Bennett or Diona, who provide other utilities, but don't have nearly as much healing capability.

I think chasing meta teams is such a good point. Genshin is there to amuse you and playing Ganyu if you hate her is just burnout guarantee

Here’s my advice to any beginners:
- don’t rush the game even if you feel you joined late. Eventually you will catch up and just be burnt out when you reach the end realize there’s no end game or rather the only end game is artifact farming which is tedious and boring af
- if you are f2p or low spender, set up strict criteria for who and when you can wish on a banner. This will minimize gambling addiction and also make you get the most fun out of your primos / money. The core criteria I have is that I don’t wish in banners if I don’t have enough to guarantee the character / weapon I want. And I only go for characters that I like the gameplay of and they add some unique value to my account. Even if I like their looks I won’t get if the gameplay is clunky (looking at you Yae).
- If you do care about spiral abyss, build Xiangling, Bennett, and Xingqiu.
- When you are building characters focus on guaranteed upgrades (talents, level etc.) before you start min/maxing artifacts.

Beginner tips? 1) Don't understimate the free starter team ( yes, including Lisa and Amber). 2) Don't rush through quests. 3) If everyone is doomposting characters ( Kazuha * cough cough * ) or hyper hyping chicks ( Eula, Yae, Yelan * cough cough * ) ignore both and get the unit you want. The meta will change anyway, not all units are future proof but at least you won't spend a whole year regretting to have pulled or skipped a banner.

Why is no one talking about Mihoyo gating New chars even more.
The characters that need the new ruin serpent don't need the geo stuff u get from it.
We need a the powder to transform at least in the pot shop or f2p have to farm double for gems and materials...

When they say AR45- they mean doing the highest level of the domain. i.e. level 80-90 enemies depending on your world tier and domain.

i started playing the game about 6 months ago and the one thing i will repeat to everyone is PLS HARVEST ALL THE MATERIALS YOU SEE 😭😭 i always get lazy and don't harvest some flowers or enemy drops bcs my current characters don't need them but the minute you get a new character you want to raise you'll need as many materials as possible 😭😭 this might be basic knowledge but i made that mistake many times.

Man the last point really hits hard on me. I started playing Genshin this April, when Ayato's banner was up. I lose 50/50 on Diluc and on the next month I got Ayaka. By the time around May, I was at ar30+. I watched YT guides saying about investing on main dps' only and I picked both Diluc and Ayaka, considering they can make up 2 different teams. I started grinding for them and by now, I only had a mediocre Diluc and ATK% goblet Ayaka. And now I'm at ar52. My supports are literally at level 70 at most, even my Bennett. When 2.7 came out, I started to realise my mistake but all the time and resin that I consumed was just unreturnable. I wished I had known sooner. Some of my friends also helped me every now and then considering how underleveled I am. But yeah, thanks for making this video anyway, it truly shows some mistakes that can affect an account in a long run, and I am here as the evidence. I wish for the best for all new players

Veteran player here: this is great advice. It took me an embarrassingly long time to even realize wtf artifacts and character level up bosses were! Or that healers were a must on any team (for me at least). A year ago I put on elemental mastery artifacts for Sucrose because I saw it in some guide but still didn't understand how all of that worked. I ended up seeing smaller damage numbers and consuming the artifacts and any future EM artifacts I got. Flash forward almost exactly a year later where I've just gotten Kazuha & Shinkanoin a few days ago... smacking myself for doing that back then while grinding for VV artifacts now 😅. I'm more of an overworld person than abyss, for me abyss is just "when I feel like trying it again". So I'm more about which characters do I like and how can I slap them together in a team while balancing decent team combinations and who to focus on leveling up. Its very true, how you should play in early game is extremely different from how you should play in late game when it comes to priorities. I think that's pretty awesome tbh. But definitely very confusing when you're still in the stage where you haven't gotten the hang of it at all yet. Took me basically until I was closer to the flip line crossing into late game territory to understand enough of the basics and get into a rhythm that I liked & that was efficient and helpful enough. There definitely needs to be like, guides like this that break it down into two eras basically. And then also different focus guides for overworld vs abyss, and even also different focuses for playstyles like those who don't really care for burst rotation playstyle and rather have supports rotate around a single main DPS (less efficiant sure, but its more fun if you want to see your favorite one being the star of the show every battle) and stuff like that :)
Cause there's so many different ways to enjoy this game. Abyss, late game, and burst rotation all tend to be the focused on style for most channels. I think we need more for the other styles/preferences. Think of it like looking at a Support build vs a DPS build for the same character. Some people just prefer it one way over the other, regardless of which fits the specific character more or if the character happens to be flexible, and so the guides could be completely different depending on which way you want to use the character. I think there is a bit if an empty niche to fill with where that extends to other gamplay aspects beyond individual character builds. Would like to see more of something along those lines. :)

The only thing that might RUIN your account is to forget to lock your artifacts and weapons. If you fodder 4* weapon (e.g. favonius warbow from quest, my friend did fodder it in early game) this might discard a lot of progress you already did, because it is primogems thing. Not a problem, if you are not f2p. Other things won't really ruin it. Even pulling for Qiqi is a win in early game, she carried me through that. Other things just making your progress slower. Even making Bennet C6 won't ruin it.

1, 2% people running HP% goblet on Raiden are just doing it to force a 4 piece set effect. They don't have attack or electro goblet so they just equip what they have.

I followed my heart at the beginning and used all my primos on the standard banner and two skyward prides later had to throw the account away

Beginner Guide:
1st. Don't Bother Spiral Abyss before AR45 or even Before AR50

2nd. Don't pull characters whose mats are in different Nation and you are Months ago till you reach there

3rd. Grind Lay Lines (Mora/Hero wit), not Artifact Before AR45

4th. Don't Grind World Bosses just for Gladiators & Wanderers. (use strong box) if you need desperately.

5th. Don't Trash you 4 🌟 Baserker & exile. Even you Stated to grind 5 🌟 Artifact. just Don't trash your Exile & Baserker.

6th. Only for AR55+, Follow this Motto
FAITH BELIEVE GRIND, in Artifact. i.e. Keep "Faith" when Grinding Artifacts, when you get a possible good peice "Believe" it will role into God Role and When its not then start "Grinding"

When it comes for pulling for limited characters some people prioritize meta while some prefer waifu/husbando, but for me gameplay/enjoyment or synergy with existing characters is more important.

Like there's no reason to pull for Shenhe when you don't build any cryo characters, and there's also no point on pulling for overpowered units like Ayaka or Hu Tao if you don't enjoy playing them (in the trial), only to feel burnt out later.

However if you're a really new player who has no 5*s you might want to pull for a Hypercarry character, preferably not a burst reliant one for better world exploration
