One of the mistakes I made at the beginning was getting *too* afraid of wasting materials, to the point where I wasn't leveling up the characters and weapons/artifacts I was using. Made the game rather frustrating to play :/

Actually, talking about white iron and crystals, you have to do these:
1) Don't waste any before you run out of prototypes during the crafting (after gathering all from quests and shops)
2) Reserve each type of material like 50 * "Possible Max of Prototypes per week" (for now you can farm them only from weekly bosses. And we have 2 of them, so 50*2=100, Childe is coming)
3) Everything more than that you can spend for EXP crystals. Just make sure you have that (2) reserve or you will have it when bosses will be killed again. Don't stack like over9000 resources -- there is no sense

100% disagree on saving fragile resins. Getting to AR40 later because of saving fragiles is going to make you lose out in the end.

It's true that resin becomes more valuable later in the game, however that's also true of the resin you gain normally and if it takes you 10 days longer to get to AR40 then you have lost essentially 1800 resin at a higher level which is far more than fragile resin is worth. That's essentially 30 fragile resins you've wasted because your normal resin you gain each day is worth less than it does on AR40.

I think the biggest mistake is people getting influenced by streamers on Hero Choices. (see below)
Let me explain; you often see people telling you that Fischl can be build as either a Support or DPS or that Kaeya is a Support too, but that might not be true for your team. It's very important to understand how to build a team BASED ON WHAT YOU HAVE.
For example, if you only have access to Fischl; Xiangling; Kaeya; Amber; Traveler; Barbara; and Noelle. Your best DPS within that f2p team is not Fischl; It's probably gonna be Noelle; Traveler; or
Kaeya that's because Noelle uses a claymore and does AOE damage (compared to Fischl who uses a bow and do single target ONLY).
I made the mistake to heavily invest in Fischl and guess what happen when the opponent has a Shield ? Nothing... xD
