What is so massive that akali is pointing out?

From the first second I thought it was malphite, then I saw the three little guys so I switch to maokai.

Just remember, Riot doesn’t condone toxicity, as it’s detrimental to the game.

They only condone it when they benefit financially from it.

You know, even though this skin looks absolute bonkers, you can tell it’s Malphite right away. If I don’t watch loading screen in Aram, it can take five mins to figure out if I’m fighting kaisa, ahri, vane, morgana or karma, xyz

Every skin in new age league is always so serious. We don't get skins like gentleman chogath or dunkmaster darius anymore. Its always something with a name like "Abyss Treader Kayn" or "Fifth Phoenix Irelia"

There's actually some additional context with the akali emote, specifically to do with Korean gaming culture, that wasn't fully explained in this video. It's true that the hand gesture did originate from online feminists trying to spread a culture of hating and criticising men, but since then it's become this esoteric movement where artists who sympathise with these feminist extremists have inserted images of that hand gesture in political ads, product ads, etc. as a way of basically trolling men.

Recently there was a somewhat big issue related to the South Korean game studio and publisher Nexon where Maplestory (MMORPG game) released an animated short movie promoting a new class where the new female character was doing that hand gesture. Maplestory and Nexon basically defended themselves saying that it was an unintentional accident, but there were other artists in the studio who leaked key-frame art of the animation and it revealed that the female character was doing the hand gesture in the key frame, which people have taken as proof that it wasn't an accident. And since then a lot of people who play Nexon games have gone through other Nexon published games to see if the hand gesture made an appearance in other promotional material for other games and they did find more. Eventually it got to the point where Nexon made a public apology for allowing that to slip through and not vetting their ads well enough, fired that studio/artists and removed the video from their websites. So Korean gamers already have some history with that hand gesture appearing in the gaming industry.

For even more background, the reason why feminists are so hated in Korea, especially young Koreans (both male and female alike) is because there's a political party in Korean government called the Department of Women and Family Matters (loosely tranlated) and they basically advocated for the banning of online games for children (anyone under 19 years old) and put in a 'digitcal curfew' for online games. What this means is that anyone under 19 years old will be automatically logged off from their online game after x amount of hours played a day and they would not be allowed to log on after 9pm or something. The reason why this works in Korea is because your online game account is tied to your social security number, so the game publisher will know how old you are, and can track your playtime/log in time and can forcibly shut you off. Obviously this did not go down well amongst young Korean gamers, both male and females, and because the Department of Women and Family Matters promotes themselves as 'leading feminists' and consisting only of female feminists they've given feminism a really bad name in Korea.

Just to be clear, Korea has a lot of issues with gender discrimination still, but most young reasonable people would agree that gender discrimination is not acceptable and support reasonable feminists. The issue is that, just like in the west and the Alt-Right movement, these exetremist feminists have become very public and very popular and have basically cannibalises and co-opted the larger feminist movement. And recently these extremist feminists have basically declared war against the gaming community and male gamers in particular - so amongst Korean gamers, this hand gesture and any whiff of 'feminsts political messaging' in their games is a sore subject right now.

My first thought was malphite, then it switched to maokai due to the little guys, then I got undecided cuz I couldn't differentiate the voice

The moment I saw the Akali emote I knew there will be drama around this lmao. Korea is a pretty important market for riot and this hand gesture had to be romoved in a lot of places bc of protests.

The fact that riot is willing to do an ASU on Teemo but NOT address his passive / W being outdated by 10+ years is exactly what I'd expect.

yeah that's not the first time i see that hand gesture being a big taboo in S.Korea

That Teemo ASU would make a LOT of sense because it looks to be his current character model only slightly polished and obviously rigged differently. They'll probably tone it down a little compared to what we're seeing here but generally that seems like a very Riot way to handle that kind of change!

That was so incredibly obviously malphite. It was obvious from the first second it was on screen. How could you not immediately know that?
