I definitely had to rewire my brain after cutting off my narc family members. It's weird because my childhood was fine in my eyes, but then as I got into my teens and into adulthood the abuse started. Went thru really bad depression because of it and had to get on antidepressants. Once I realized what was causing all of this is when I started tapering off their access to me before I cut them completely off. I was even able to finally get off the antidepressants. I still have slight issues with self esteem, but really trying to get better with that.

Love you’re message always, thank you always.
After my 2 1/2 year romantic was realized as toxic, I turned my trauma into self love. Relearned how to hoolah hoop, rode my bike and strengthened my swimming skills. I turned up my happy hormones regularly with these good habits. My gratitude each day from becoming awake to my child hood trauma which propelled me to toxic relationships. I have better friendships and relationships and have strong boundaries. As a young senior my life is better than I could imagine and I look and feel years younger.

33 years of marriage to a narcissist psychopath, after a childhood of abuse, gave me adrenal fatigue. I surely need to boost my happy hormones.

One thing that wasn't mentioned is the Hippocampus. It regulates sleep and strong emotions (I think). But prolonged narcissist abuse makes it swell up which causes emotional disturbance (frequent anger) and insomnia. But I've heard meditation is helpful for it

Excellent and highly informative and educational. So few people understand, know or care about narcissistic abuse survivors and we are left very isolated to recover and heal from immense and unimaginable trauma. Oh my goodness... I LITERALLY was craving hugs... Like almost crying because I needed one... Then I learned what oxytocin was... And then you say it this way and it completely makes sense.

Great thumbnail. I know the techniques you are suggesting and they are wonderful, I just haven't used them in a while and I really need to, want to, and will be! But 1st I really need to design an affirmation to give myself specific permission to spend that kind of time and energy on myself and to receive the reward of happy brain body chemicals of feeling good. And I'll pray God's protection over this new permission. The affirmation is to overcome a time when I was a child, and people seem to get rewarded for being sick, and everyday fun and encouraging being healthy just wasn't a focus at all. So I will be using affirmations to overcome the power sickness we had in our rather narcissistic childhood family life. There was lots of complete quiet in those days, or contrastingly big chaos. So because childhood rules can block our progress, I am conciously changing the old rule and making this new rule, that healthy is allowed, healthy is fun, and healthy is good. Even if others feel more comfortable with not taking good care and so they often don't feel well. That's okay, I can feel well anyways, especially because I really like healthy feelings and feeling healthy.
