How to Fix the Sound on a Laptop

Hi my name is Chris Dowdy with Orange Star Networks, and I'm here to explain to you how to adjust the sound on your laptop.
If you're playing an audio clip or a video clip and having a difficult time hearing the sound there's a few things you can check to ensure that the sound on your laptop is working properly.

1. The first thing you want to do is locate the physical hardware on your laptop. Somewhere near the audio output jack or the headphone jack there should be a physical wheel that you can turn up and down to adjust the volume. If you don't find one there, then a lot of laptops have a up and down volume button located somewhere above the keyboard.

2. The next place to look if the audio's still not working is the function key. Generally there are two function keys one for adjusting the volume up one for adjusting it down. As well as a third key that mutes the audio altogether. Make sure the audio is unmuted and that the sound is up.

3. If you're still having trouble listening to the audio, then under the start menu and the control panel you'll find a sound and audio devices setting. Here you can turn the volume up and down as well as turn the volume off and on. You can check there to make sure all the volume is up and working and you should be able to hear audio by then.
