I’m actually on a hunt about something my RAD daughter (12) has been doing. I thought I was pretty knowledgeable about RAD but this one has me stumped. OR possibly that maybe since it’s here in my own daily world - I’m not thinking it through from the lens I normally would. The *only.* thing I’ve come up with is that we are 4mo into the school year. So maybe she’s now in the push love away stage that we all know about RAD babies.

She’s a HUGE part of all her schools athletics and very successful at playing as well. But… she keeps getting herself suspended from games. Why? Twice she has gotten a hold of a vape and decided to use it. She immediately comes and tells her father or I, and we ground her and/or more depending on circumstances. But then… she does SPECIFICALLY to the athletic director and counselor at school and tells them she vaped. Even though it’s already been taken care of at home, happened at home, and is terrified she’s going to get kicked off the team….

Yet, she still continues to self report her choices. Her first bench was 2 games. This time she got 5 game suspension. Next one will be kicked off the team.

Like I said, maybe it’s because this is so close to home but man, … whether or not they are RAD doesn’t matter to me. I’ve always worked with RAD students and always had tons of successful solutions. This time… not so much! Momma just wants to help her babygirl 1) not make ridiculous decisions, 2) self reporting at school is good but now everyone needs to know every detail
