Find out how stress is killing us as we reveal some important research about stress.

When it comes to overall health, many of us focus solely on nutrition and exercise. We often neglect the impact that our mindset and emotions have on our overall well-being. However, stress is an important factor in our well-being, and being too stressed can take years off your life. Today we are going to talk about stress and mental health, how stress affects health, and the long-term effects of stress on your body.

There is a lot of research about stress that says chronic stress influences the epigenome. This means that stress changes your genetic expression. Limiting your stress is an important way to prevent these changes in your genetic expression.

If you want to live a longer life, you must take care of your mental health and limit your stress as much as possible. You can do this by spending more time outside, spending more time with the people you love, starting a meditation or prayer practice, or starting a journal.

Your video fell from the sky, really thank you very much the stress is killing me and I know it but this 2021 has been a drop to spill my glass especially due to the lack of family understanding because stress is something so tangible for me and it is real . Thank you

I was teaching students about the dangers of stress during their anatomy classes over twenty years ago and still the lack of knowledge persists! Chinese and Japanese medicine addresses this whole person approach very well but western medicine is just about medicine and not about the holistic approach. Super good work Dr A !

Wow! It has taken me 10yrs to figure most of this out and you just shared it in such a short time. Like less than 7min. Just wow!
I am encouraged I am on the right track with addressing stress in my life and slowing down as a post menopausal woman.
I have spent the majority of my life in the fight and flight mode. I have slowed down but it's so much more than just slowing down.
Thank you for this!

Wow. This is exactly what I needed to hear today. My stress level has increased and the hours I sleep have lessened since covid19. I know I need to do better FAST.

Thank you for the talk on epigenetics. Great explanation. I love your tips - I love to get outside and walk with my dog. The analogy of picking up your bag and then put it down to rest is fantastic. I use prayer, community connections with loved ones and online friends, winding down with essential oils and meditation and yoga. Thank you Dr A!

I really like the idea of going for a walk right when you get up. Fresh air! Then meditation or prayer. That just sounds like the way a day should start. Sometimes the stress is so heavy I feel numb. This was a great video to make. 🙏🏻

Thank you, Doctor! Thanks for understanding all of us who go through such states of mind . As for me I keep blaming myself for all the wrong things that happen to me . No wonder I get rare pains around my body at times and then it passes off. So now I know! Thanks once again, Doctor!

Wonderful explanation! It's true, stress will kill you, ignoring it won't make it go away. I have a family member who has meditated for over 30 years. When they stopped, I noticed they were more easily agitated, not sleeping well and they had sleep disruption. I proposed, a) resume meditation b) no alcohol during the week, moderate consumption on the weekend, c) walk every day when you get home from work d) reduce negative influences, people, news. Hopefully, that will help.
Thank you for so generously sharing content!
