In Italy, because the Health Care is free, the doctors always get to the source of the pain and always explain the food benefits and what we must eat, no processed food what so ever!!

I stopped taking sugar, and eating processed foods years ago around 5 years ago. It’s really hard, your body shakes and pounds etc, but it’s just your system cleansing itself. Afterwards you’ll feel better, healthier, lighter and fitter.

Dr Sebi a man who didn’t go to medical school was talking about healing the gut to heal any disease! And to use food as medicine. Good to see doctors talking about this as opposed to a pushing prescription meds!

I learned several years ago to shop "only" along walls... that's your veggies, fruit, meats, dairy.
I always hit the raw nuts and seed isle.
I have stopped bagels, donuts, ice cream, processed foods, no more fast foods and am trying to cut back my sugar. Since june 2022 to feb 2023 I've dropped 21 pounds and no longer obese. Still over wt. But i dot plan to stay at this wt.

1959 was a good year to be born. I grew up eating natural whole foods and have lived at 8, 000' less than three miles from tow different wilderness areas. I work at 9, 000' - 11, 000' and play at up to 14, 500'. I have a very physical job and my co-workers, at half my age, aren't as strong and healthy. I go backcountry skiing and ski mountaineering nearly every week with guys half my age and they often have a hard time keeping up. I completely agree with what Mark is laying down. I'm not even trying to live longer, but want the best quality of live while I'm here.

I lost 65lbs eliminating processed carbohydrates from my diet. I don't eat anything that comes out of a box that's labeled. No bread, no white rice, no sugar. It was a challenge at first, but eventually, I learned to bake and substitute sweets with natural ingredients like dates, cocoa, coconut sugar, and almond flour. 😋 Eliminating processed carbohydrates and sugar also cleared up my fibroids.

I listen to a LOT of health and fitness podcasts, but this is one of the most broad ranging yet concise I've come across to date. It basically covers everything. When people next ask me what wellness and health podcast to listen to, I'll recommend this one in a heartbeat.

Dr Rangan thank you, over 6 months ago I found one of your videos about low carb ect, I was very ill and felt like I was waiting to die, I had pre diabetes, autoimmune diseases, i couldn’t get out of bed on my own, I was a vegetarian…..I’m now zero carb, can walk over 8 miles a day, my blood sugar is 4.8 in the perfect range, o and I’ve lost so far 54lb in 6 months, I feel 20 years younger x

This is great. I love Dr Hyman. I quit sugar and processed foods recently and I know I’m going to feel so much better. Hopefully lose weight as well but my goal is to feel alive and vibrant.

Why does no one talk abot Canenne? Cayenne pepper has the power to soothe inflammation and bloating that comes from allergies, food sensitivities and infections. 7. Works as Anti-Irritant. Cayenne pepper benefits include its anti-irritant properties, making it effective in easing ulcers, upset stomachs, cough and even potentially stop diarrhea. It's good for heart disease, too!

Processed sugary food has become a form of entertainment…a legal “recreational drug” and…good grief…it is all over the place and heavily marketed to children EVERYWHERE!
Also…food/eating/breaking bread with loved ones is an important cultural ritual.

I think a big part is also played by the the packaging. I grew up in Italy and all the vegetables, fruit and animal proteins didn’t come in plastic packaging like now here in America. You went shopping and you got the food you choose in paper bags. The food would get to the grocer in cartons or crates. The butcher would get his animals hanging in the refrigerated truck then butcher them and sell the pieces in butcher paper (you can find that here in America still in a few stores). Beside the fact that the food in Italy is regional and seasonal the fact that is not constantly in contact with plastic I think is really important. Things are changing there too regrettably and many things are becoming more premade and industrial.

Good info. One common theme stretches across the history of metabolically healthy people to this day - whether their diets are primarily animal based or plant based- reliance on whole, unprocessed foods.

One Frankfurter was labeled 1480 grams of sodium. Panera also has high sodium in their foods. Olive Garden chicken paragons dinner has 3880 grams of sodium.. I used to love that meal. No more.

When you remove the bad stuff hunger is intense, but the addition of whole fruits, vegetables and liquid (water, tea, unsweetened coffee) satisfies and the drop in weight also satisfies.

Another great interview on this channel. Dr Hyman looks and feels younger now than when I listened to him 10 years ago. Great job.

I’m not plant based, but I eat very little meat (I just don’t like it) and am lactose intolerant, so don’t get any dairy.

Recently, I’ve made sure to have a (plant) protein smoothie everyday, and I do cardio/strength training every single day. The difference is amazing!

Something else, the more processed food consumed, which is nutritionally deficient due to all the processing, the body is 'forgetting' how to digest and extract the naturally occuring nutrients found in food stuffs in their natural state. Also you need to eat a lot more of the processed foodstuffs in order to absorb sufficient nutrients for the body's needs.
