Charge Your Macbook Safely? 😬 (Using a 30W or 20W power adapter)

Can you charge a Macbook with a 20W USB-C Charger? Will an Anker Charger void your warranty, or ruin your battery. The Short and easy answer is No, and usually not. My recommendation is not purchase off-brand power adapters. Low-quality accessories won't necessarily ruin your MacBook or iPad, but they might break much faster than accessories manufactured by a name-brand. There are reported cases of both Apple-branded chargers and Anker chargers failing; so no charger or brand is perfect.

As long as the charger is made by a reputable company such as Anker, then it should be fine, it's the non-branded generic chargers that tend to cause issues with cheaper components

He is only half correct. That’s why influencers are dangerous. Using a non-Apple charger, by another reputable company that has testing standards will not ruin the Mac. The Mac pulls as much current from the charger, the charger doesn’t push current into the Mac.

Now, but if the Mac is using a knock-off or brand-less charger, it’s a different story. As a Mac technician, I’ve seen tons of brand-less chargers burn out the charging port, the logicboard and the battery of MacBooks.

Theoretically yes. But personal experience and repairing devices, I've encountered battery wear due to thermal stress. I've plugged my laptop charger into my phone and it got way too hot, even though it should be to spec.

Yea I knew about this depending on wattage depends on how fast your MacBook or Chromebook or windows laptop charges

Why don't i hear anyone say this. The apple Mac charger usb port is was too big. In my opinion is very invasive and takes up too much space. You can't plug anything else in the outlet that it's currently in.

Take a special note about power dissipation, if you charge with the higher watt but your laptop can only pull a lower wattage, that there will be a power dissipation. Mostly notable with the higher temperature when you charge with these incompatible charger. For tech product use science, not the word spoken by youtubers

Not saying you cannot use a non apple charger but apple devices and others check for voltage and current stability. If that happens the apple device will not accept charge. This also applies to shady cables. So he is NOT 100% correct!

If I recall Volts are pulled, amps are pushed.

Anker is a good brand so no probs but one thing I am scared of is off brand shady chargers. So why bring the OG charger for playing safe.

I dont think it delivers similar results as when i use my iPhone 15 pro max and MacBook Apple Original adapter it preforms similar but when i use Samsung original adapter for charging iPhone 15 pro maxwhich is recommended for galaxy fold 5 it heats the device and also not charges at the same speed of Apple Original adapter and the situation is same if use apple adapter for galaxy fold 5 it heats very much and charges at slower rate please explain this as both are PD certified original adapters

Consistently using a lower-power charger can actually wear down your MacBook's battery faster since it might need more charge cycles over time, which leads to it wearing out
