1. Always use a case just like every phone.
2. Battery never drop below 50%.
3. Always charge until 80% Max.
4. Clean your MacBook always.
5. Not using it.

the setting in the battery menu, Optimized Battery Charging, will stop your macbook charging at 80% until you tell it to fully charge it, and when it reaches 80 the laptop switches to AC power only. when you're using your macbook as your primary computer at a desk, this will help the battery last a lot longer over time.

I really don't think Macs, now that we are in 2023, will overcharge. Ive seen for myself that when your Mac hits 100% charge, it actually stops charging and uses power from Its adapter. This can be proved by going to the system report (Ventura) and under power It will say charging: no, and also I've seen it discharge if it needs to down to 90%.

Silver is the only option in which what you see see is the actual color of the material, aluminum. All the other colors are covering the aluminum, including starlight. That's why, if you scratch them, even if it's just by using the ports, you'll always see silver/aluminum under. Summing up, in the long term, the safest choice is Silver.

My macbook is connected to a monitor through USB-C cable which is also a charger, so technically it's being charged 24/7. No issues at all and I've been using it for over 2 years like that.

I've had a space grey MacBook since the colour was introduced in 2017, and never had a problem with it showing up scratches. I had a 2013 MacBook Pro prior and that showed up scratches worse.

So when do you disconnect the charger? My Macbooks used as a desktop at home so its basically always plugged in unless I am away travelling.

My 2017 macbook air has to always be plugged in with the charger. When the charger is unplugged, it will suddenly die

My wife just got her first MBA. My sense is that plugging the laptop into a charger is not the same as charging the battery because the so-called charger is just a variable power supply and the actual charging circuit is inside the laptop. So set it up to Optimal Power Charging if you can afford the shorter battery life in your use case and let the machine cycle between 20% and 80% of battery charge which seems to be friendliest to the battery chemistry.

As recommended by Li-Ion battery manufacturers and EV car manufacturers!

P.S.: Back in the day, I used IBM Thinkpads with removable batteries in a primarily desktop use case. I used to physically disconnect the battery unless needed and the battery capacity was still super high years later.

I bought my macbook air m1 for almost 3 years now & it still as good as the first time I use it.. the memory swap is going to take effect on a 256gb storage for about 40 plus years & that is more than my lifetime dude.. the battery is easily replaceable by just ordering battery online & watching youtube for tutorials.. I also have thunderbolt 3 that has a speed of 40gbps ssd enclosure to install a bootable macOS so I can have more storage also to save my internal ssd from being worn out.. I also have an app called aldente charge limiter to keep my battery charged to only 60 to 70% & bypass my battery then use my charger to power my macbook.. but after 3 years I decided to unplug the power & use my battery & use my internal ssd like a normal laptop.. macbook air is the laptop that suits almost all the needs of the non techy users & non gamers.. my macbook air m1 is the perfect laptop to my needs.. I am just a small time online seller so I won't be needing a powerful laptop.. I guess my macbook air is going to be my first & last laptop but only God knows hot long will I be..
