Good review. A difference that you didn't mention, a very important one, is reliability. The Toyota hybrids are reaching 300k miles, they are so reliable. In fact, when I bought my 2023 Rav4 hybrid, my dealer threw in a lifetime powertrain warranty. You won't find this level of reliability in a Honda.

I just bought a XSE Hybrid for my 21 year old son. I looked at cars for him for MONTHS. We checked out Kia, Honda, Mazda, and Subaru. I think the RAV4 is a much better choice than the competition for several reasons. Toyota has a ton of safety features on their cars even on their lowest trim models. Most of the CRVs we looked at did NOT have Blind Spot monitoring (the dealers said the chip shortage). That to me was a big no-no for a younger driver. The RAV also has a great back-up camera and that Lane Keep Assist will beep if you move out of your lane. You can't beat the MPG on the Hybrid -- he is averaging 42 city. The car is peppy and quiet and doesn't even feel like a 4 cylinder. There are also a bunch of USB ports all over the car-- Honda is lacking with those. His opinion was that the RAV 4 was sportier looking -- the CRV gives mom vibes. The CRV is a great car, but I think Toyota wins this.

LED taillights are standard on all RAV4’s from gas to hybrid to plug in hybrid. The only thing that’s incandescent are the reverse and turn signals which is the same setup with the CR-V

I am happy to say I got my Rav4. Compared to CRV, Rav4 is far more attractive to me. I got the limited trim, same color as the reviewed car here. I was gonna get the XSE, thank God I got a good deal with the limited one. So far I am loving this car, no complains yet.

Been going back and forth between the RAV4 and CR-V.. I think I’ve finally decided on the RAV4.. You just get so much more for the price than the CR-V… I do like the CR-V’s interior a little more, but damn. Such a hard decision.

I just bought a Rav4 XLE Hybrid for my son. It is a major upgrade from his old Ford Escape Hybrid in every way: More power, better tech, better styling, materials, engineering, build quality, etc. We looked at the Limited model too, but the XLE seemed to be a better value for the money.

worst thing about rav4 2023 is that you cannot buy it.

A couple of clarifications from this review… the 10.5” infotainment screen, and the 12” digital instrument cluster are only available in upper trim levels and then usually only as an option (at least on the 10.5” screen)

Stumbled upon this channel, probably the best review on youtube. It's great for people who know little, and enjoy deeper dives. most of the other reviews talk about a lot of fluff that we don't need. This is perfect.
The CRV review, you hit the top 3 things that pissed me off in the first minute of the video. Excellent stuff.

2019+ RAV4 tail lights are all LEDs. Brake lights are LEDs also. Rear turn signal and reverse bulbs are incandescent. There are no 5th generation RAV4 Platinum models in the U.S. currently.

Thanks for mentioning the small but very useful cubby holes around the dash. The small one for the driver and the large one for passengers, and the wireless charging pad. Things like that matter to me.

The only negative thing about my 2022 RAV4 XLE Hybrid is that after two + hours, the seats become less comfortable. The 40 city Mpg, and over 36 Mpg on limited access highway (with cruise control set at 78 mph), more than makes up for this.

Good review. Where I live, RAV4 hitches are more for carrying a bike rack than towing.

My 2023 RAV4 Hybrid XLE is 2 days old. I went from a 2020 Jeep Cherokee Limited. I like that the RAV4 is bigger; I can fit 2 sets of golf clubs width wise in the back and not have to put the seats down. I like the storage cover. The gas mileage is WAY better. A few knocks. The front passenger seat is manual. No leather. I find the cabin storage lacking. The center console has one big storage bin instead of a large storage bin and then a smaller one on top like the Jeep. No coin holder (I know, nitpick). Not sure about the interface yet, might just have to get used to it after having the Jeep for 3 years.

Best part of the video is What you can’t get in the CRV. Keep it coming!!!!

Even if there is a down side. Picking the brand who will most likely let my family go somewhere without letting us down is #1 by a landslide! That is truly all that I care about. Personally I've had amazing luck with Nissan. I've driven my 2 nissans around 700, 000km combined and have only spent about $400 in all that time for a wheel hub. I changed my own brake pads, do my own oil changes... never an issue. however i like Lexus which I've owned and loved. and Toyota the most!

I don’t care about taillights, I do care about simplicity and reliability that’s what Rav4 build for…
