Yup before eating a carnivore diet i was eating high oxalate foods, and about 6 months in on carnivore i ended up getting a bunch of tiny kidney stones, spent a day at the hospital and passed all the stones myself. Should have just stayed home for it, but ya never again will i eat anything with plants, omg the bloating, and sickness i always felt, bad moods, always weak, tired, always miserable. Now i feel great all the time!

To all who read this...avoid kidney stones. I had a small one a couple of years back and the pain was almost unbearable. I never want to have one of those again...and i only had one small one.

This is why precisely humans skeletal sizes massively decreased at the very beginning of agriculture as compared to pre agriculture...its also how archeologists would determine if a remain is pre or after agriculture

I used to eat a chocolate bar with 85% cocoa every day. They contain a high level of oxalates.I stopped immediately after I realised this.

This is important new knowledge for many.

Refer to Sally K Norton for more. She is tight with the Carnivore group here. Be prepared though, oxalate shedding or dumping produces noticeable acute symptoms but are temporary

Actual science had me do a 180 on dirt, , meet fish and eggs, , simple, , And it worked, lost fat, gained muscle, less arthritis, lower blood sugar, more energy.
It's all win win win for me. I wish I'd known sooner how powerful this is for your life. 😮

Yes I stopped eating spinach etc in my smoothies because of the oxalates. I haven't had another ultrasound but I don't have the same amount of kidney pain since.

Yes, no new stone snice going carnivore. I had been making them for 20 years, having them broken every 4 to 5 years. Last one was 16mm Nov 2022

This is true, and you should also rule out Hyperparathyroidism, with the full Parathyroid panel if you are getting kidney stones.
Google the full list of symptoms.

I used to eat spinach like a fat guy (which I was) eats chips, straight out of the bag. I used to get kidney stones at least every other year, and the last one was also the biggest at around 4.5mm. I plan to never eat spinach, or other high oxalate foods, ever again.

Exactly, no one believes in me. I try to tell this to my parents that i dont need salads or veggies. They just dont believe. Also they use seed oils and think that margarine is better.

Do you have any experience with people who have complete intestinal metaplasia? What should people like us eat?

Ice tea mixes like 4C or lipton for example gave me kidney stones.

It’s not oxalates. It’s Methylglyoxal formed due to local cell (individual cell) phosphate deficiency. Slam the cells with carbohydrates and late in glycolysis when your using up as much free phosphate as you have on tap, eventually comes the point where you don’t have any left over. Once you form DHAP and/or G3P, it spontaineously transforms to Methylglyoxal and a free phosphate and then glycolysis keeps going.

*interestingly* many of the problematic gut microbacteria that cause all kinds of problems use and release Methylglyoxal as part of their metabolisms. Especially yeasts.

Methylglyoxal levels are also a better predictor of sepsis than IL-6 (or maybe it was IL-2, but I’m pretty sure it was 6) by roughly 10%.

It can bind to nerve endings (causing neuropathic pain).

It can be the basis for kidney disease.

It binds to dopamine to form ADTIQ (which is structurally similar to MPTP which is used to induce “experimental” Parkinson’s) and also encourages neurons to produce all of the proteins associated with various forms of dementia.

It can bind to DNA, via glycosylation, which was recently found to something that occurred at higher rates in cancer cells.

You name it- you can blame it on Methylglyoxal.

And Benfotiamine (one of the fat soluble derivative) can scavenge it!

Changed to 100% carnivore and started having issues with calcium oxalate crystals dumping coming out of my skin and eyes.
Has taken a little over 2yrs for this to settling down.
