I saw NOTHING to why that officer should have fired his weapon or killed the suspect. He moved from the victim when they showed up. The victim was no longer in danger and from the distance the officers were not in danger either. That little girl lost her life because of a trigger happy cop.

Why didn’t they evacuate the store before shooting and killing a child.

The 911 call is what triggered this response. On the news it was said that the 911 call said there was an active shooter. The guy only had some kind of bicycle lock when the cops arrived. Find that caller....

How about a manslaughter charge for the officer if Kim Potter gets charged for mistaking her glock for her tazer at the very least he recklessly discharged his weapon without regard to the background.

A shocking example of police incompetence resulting in loss of innocent life ....if 5 or 10 police officers can't disarm a man with a hammer, chain, knife... go fry burgers in a fast food restaurant.

It appears that the LAPD has poor weapons training. A long rifle has too much penetrating power to be fired indoors. In close quarters, the long barrel makes it harder to maneuver around. He should have used his service handgun to find the perpetrator. The officer fired his rifle before determining that he was being threaten or before determining what barriers where behind to contain the bullet before firing at the perpetrator. The body camera shown on another network shows the officer, I assume with an AR-15 type assault rifle, firing three rounds at the perpetrator. In the video, he didn’t identify himself as a police officer or yelling at the perpetrator to show his hands. He fired his AR-15 as soon as he saw the perpetrator.

This wasn't a "tragic accident". This was bad policing. So many things they did wrong here. First, they did not use less lethal options first, like tasers and bean bag rounds. Second, they were using ammunition and weapons that were capable of going through walls. For instance, they should've used shotguns instead of rifles and hand guns. The chief should resign, the officers should be fired, and new training should be implemented.
