"There was no sign or warning about not sitting on the railing." It's called common sense. The railing is the warning. That's what railings are for. To prevent people from going where they are not supposed to go and falling off edges and out of windows.

Idiot yes, murderer no. As a mother & grandmother Id have NEVER, EVER sat them on a railing or even near it. Maybe I see danger all over.

“It didn’t have a sign” I’m pretty sure that’s where common sense is suppose to kick in.

we don't need a damn sign for every freaking thing that is just common sense.

I understand that the family is in pain and the grandfather must be beating himself over this but it was clearly his fault.

Me - She fell out? Damn why is he getting charged?

Me 1 minute and 30 seconds in - He held her OVER the railing?!

My husband was on a jury where a family had a twin bed shoved up next to a bedroom wall in an apartment under the 2nd story window. They had kids jumping on the bed and one fell out the open window that had a lightweight aluminum screen on it and the child fell to the ground and was killed. The family sued the apartment owner and they claimed that the screens should have prevented the fall. The jury and my husband felt bad for the family but they determined that screens are designed to keep bugs out not children in. The family should have not placed the bed next to the window and shouldn’t let the kids jump on the bed. People have to protect their own kids, it’s the job of the parents.

I think he actually knew that the window was open. Just like many parents would throw their toddlers up in the air, sit them on the balconies etc. He just didn't count on him dropping her. He probably thought he could hold her up and bring her back inside safely. That's what I think happened.

Sounds like just a freak accident. He has to live with that everyday.

All cruise ships have rules, NO SITTING OR STANDING ON RAILS! Common sense. Royal Caribbean is at NO FAULT!

There’s ALSO no sign on my stove that reads: 🗣”DON’T FKN STICK YOUR HAND IN THE FIRE.” Come on man.😒

Been on 10 cruises. Its very easy to tell the window is open. Just the sheer volume of wind/sound/visual coming through is undeniable.

He didn’t feel a breeze or wind?

He didn’t smell fresh air or the ocean?

He couldn’t hear the waves?!

Maybe the grandpa is getting old and just was not in his right mind.

Very sad as I’m sure the grandfather loved this little baby, but the family trying to blame the cruise line is trash.

I can't imagine the coroner having to go see what an 11th story drop does to a baby

Why does a baby need a "better view" as the family's attorney states as a reason for holding the baby over the railing? So incredibly tragic.

The step-grandfather was clearly lying. He leaned over for 8 seconds before lifting the child over the railing and dangling outside the railing for 34 seconds. And he had the guts to say that he did notice it was open? Give me a break!

You telling me that you can't feel the air coming in from the open window?

Common sense you don’t put a baby on a railing on a cruise ship.
