As a German myself I hate that sometimes it's easy to forget that even amongst the western world many of the things we take for granted are luxuries that aren't shared with everyone

And that's not even speaking of the wealth divide to the rest of the world

i absolutely understand you and don't blame you at all but there must be other ways to package that without using so incredibly much plastic and it's for the government to pressure companies into using those alternate methods and making them affordable for a normal household

One business law that we need ASAP is that businesses with profit over $5M should be *required by law* to provide a free recycling program for their packaging, and only use recycled materials. Governments should also invest in recycling businesses or not tax them to encourage more recycling.

*VIRGIN PLASTIC SHOULD BE BANNED.* There is more than enough plastic to recycle in this world...to manufacture more for the simple fact that it's cheaper than recycling plastic is one of the many ways that corporate greed is going to be the end of us all.

Isn’t it sad that Americans need to prioritise between convenience and time saving of cutting an apple (!) and work/free time. Ridiculous! So basically the existence of every American is only possible by producing and wasting resources (which create other problems in waste management) so that Americans can work non regulated working hours. The real global warming sin is how cold it is in las vegas. Its a desert and i was freezing at some places because it was so damn cold. They use so heacy air conditioning in a desert. So much that you can literally feel extremely cold. A desert shouldnt be that cold. There were air conditioner outside in the desert. Not just the buildings No they had them outside too.

Still, plastic will outlive us all. It seems silly to use for something so short term. We should use alternatives, and where none exist, create them.

Plastic grocery bags are ban, while most of the packaging in grocery stores are plastic.
It doesn't make sense.

Also, I find this a bit hypocrytical. I think Germany packages many things just as wastefully. They also don't have as many options for buying in bulk/larger packages which I find also increases packaging waste.


To be clear, I think Germany does many things better than the US, and I definitely wouldn't say Germany has more packaging waste than the US overall, but they definitely have plenty of food and other items packaged in multiple layers of plastic packaging.🤷🏽‍♀️
