Melting Plastic Waste to Make Dice 🎲 #recycledplastic

Показать описание
We tried our hand at making a DIY-friendly project that anyone can do as their first attempt at working with recycled plastic. We've made lots of things in the past like keyrings and other small items that are easy for beginners, but don't necessarily have an inherent value. By making objects from recycled plastic that last a lifetime like these dice, it means that they are kept out of landfill instead of just delaying their journey there. Plus, recycled plastic dice look awesome! 🎲

"We're sorry but we can't recycle plastic caps here."

"Fine. I'll do it myself."

When I was a kid, I used to do this with broken crayons! I made really cool multicolored rainbow crayons!! ❤

Everyone commenting about microplastics had better be living a 100% plastic free lifestyle, including clothings containing plastic which is most clothing.

Edit: This was more advice for viewers who are thinking about doing this stuff, I’d assume OP knows what they’re doing

As someone who’s worked with plastics before, please be insanely careful when melting the stuff to NOT let it get on your skin. I’ve had a couple molten plastic burns myself (thankfully only small, minor ones) but I’ve seen some serious scars on others

Very cool process to make. But probably a nightmare afterward to be sure the dice are fair

I forgot some people don't know anything other than d6. I was expecting a full-on d&d dice set.

At first I thought the brownish color was pretty ugly but then I was pleasantly surprised with a beautiful warm marble kinda pattern underneath that!
So cool!

When I worked in a factory that made plastic chairs, when they switched colors the first few would be tye dye and look really awesome and unique, I always wondered why we didn't sell them?? But they would always destroy them. Solid colors. But what do I know that was the worst job I ever had hands down.

I just love seeing junk turn into treasure! 🥰 When I used to get more junk mail, I would cut, roll and glue the papers and then I'd weave the paper tubes into little baskets and paint them.

I would buy these in a heartbeat!!❤ Here’s why:
1. Support your local artists!!
2. Take something that is “not recyclable “ and make it “RECYCLABLE “🤗
3. Who doesn’t need a large tie dyed set of Yahtzee or D&D dice!!??😁

Sir, I appreciate the creativity
-the upcycle
-the hustle
-the craftsmanship
These dice look great, but I just question the safety of putting plastic on your panini press and in your food oven and shaving them down without a mask or vaccum fan on.

(I'm saying this as someone who works with plastics and acrylics too so I'm not hating on this)
