😮 it is scary to get sick in the US especially with a burst appendix. In Europe you would have had your appendix removed urgently and immediately.

I'm sorry you had to go through this. I too had a ruptured appendix. I was home for 9 days before I went to the hospital. After 2 days of not being able to find what was wrong they did exploratory surgery and found it had burst. They couldn't believe I loved through it.
Bless you, thanks for the video.

my appendicitis started abput 1am on a sunday morning, i was awake all night and for the first time in 7 years i threw up, everything i did was painful but i eveantlly found a place that was comfortableish, my mum was away so my nan took me to the hospital, and since i was in the childrens ward i didt have to wait in the wating room too long. my mum came and said there endometriosis family history so the surgery was delayed and i had a MRI instead, day 3 in the hospital i was told i had appendicitis AND endo which was scary. the doctors and nurses were so nice, but it was very emotionally and physically painful. i was very lucky for it not to have bursted. i was put on the drip 3 times, and i had 2 delayed surgerys but it eveantlly worked out. was in the hospital for 4 days.
thank you for sharing your story x

I just had my appendix removed and I went to the ER barely being able to walk. I had abdomen pain and felt like my groin was being squeezed and felt I was holding my urine for a really long time. The Doc checked me for a torsion, hernia, and kidney stones, was cleared on all of those and Doc said I was fine and sent me on my way. 6 months later after losing weight, vomiting off and on and more abdominal pain, I returned to the ER. After blood work and CT scan I had a serious infection and my appendix was ready to Burst (again). A 45 minute surgery turned into 3 hours because it was way worse than they had thought. A look back back at that first ER visiting my appendix had ruptured and they missed it. The surgeon that did my surgery was surprised by the scar tissue that had healed over the first rupture and that I had endured this for over six months

Got diagnosed with chronic mild appendix, the doc put me on the medicines told me it will get better with medicines, while my pain goes away and the course of 5 days medication is also over, not feeling much pain, just burning sensation in night, hope i get better with medicines but if surgery needed im not afraid, stay happy eat healthy and live an appendix free life 🎉🥳

when the pain stops after it starts—this typically means it has burst. When it stops hurting and you feel “relief”—is actually a very bad thing

Truth... My brother suffered for 12 plus hours before going to the hospital, he was in such denial, despite me the nurse telling him he likely had an appy!

My was gangrene inside of me. It was early July 2016. I was in pain. I only had 2 hours of sleep. I even slept in my recliner for a couple hours. I had a hard time in getting up from my recliner. My mother came over to helped me. I went to the bathroom. I did changed my clothes. She did drove me to the ER that afternoon. Luckily that I only drank water. I didn’t ate anything. It was hot in early July. It was hard for me to walked. I had it removed that evening. The surgery was 3 hours for me being obese at that time. I woke up in the recovery room after surgery. I didn’t know where I was for a second. I felt a lot better after the surgery. I had PT after the surgery. I didn’t eat the following day. I was hooked up towards 3 things. It dropped down to 2 and to 1. I did have clear liquids one day. Solid liquids the following day. I did ate a big breakfast. It was too much to eat but, I did finished it. I ate lighter meals. I was in the hospital for almost 5 days. I still have a little bit of upset stomach and I ate lighter meals those couple days at my parents house. I even used a walker in the hospital because I was weak after the surgery. I was at both of my parents house till Thursday after going to the doctor. I had this device connected towards my right side of my belly. I even had shot in my belly after my stay at the hospital. I had a tiny pinch after the surgery. I had gauge with tape over the wound. It leaked out a little bit. I kept changing it a whole lot. I even had a lot of staples on my belly. I was bored at home and I went to the Y just after 2 weeks after surgery to do my cycling class. I did a lighter ride on my cycling class. It was for a half hour which was good for me. I tried it in the life style center on a different bike and I didn’t felt good so I got off. I went to cycling class and my incision had leaked a little bit when I was on a bike for 5 minutes. My instructor had sent me home because of it. I didn’t go over the weekend. I had another appointment with the doctor to removed the rest of the staples. I didn’t go to my cycling class on Monday mornings till early August. I even did my other class but, I started out very light in early August. I still have the big scar and the tiny one above my belly button. I used to have another one but, that one had disappeared. Another person had his removed shortly after mine was removed. Later on another person has his removed because it exploded and had taken some medication for it. My doctor thought that I wouldn’t do anything for a while. I did bounce back quickly shortly after. I was able to drive my car that one Friday towards both of my parents house. My mother was able to give up her bedroom for me those 4 days. I have a walker for me for walking around just in case. I didn’t really need it when I walked inside of a McDonald’s for a diet soda to drink after using the restroom. She even bought the walker for me. I didn’t used after having my appendix removed. I wanted my father to used it. He never did. I did used it when I sprained my right ankle very badly in a fall on October 19, 2017. It was a short recovery time for me. I even did joked around with the nurses at the hospital after the surgery. I still remembered one nurse’s name from my stayed. I saw her when my father was in the hospital and said hi and even talked to her for a little bit, too. Even another gal when she did PT for me after the surgery, too.

You must have some bad ass insurance, that room was nice! I just had my appendix out a couple weeks ago and let me tell you, I've NEVER been in as much pain as I was that first night before I went to the ER. I've had open heart surgery and it hurt less!

They should have removed your appendix immediately with no waiting around

Our 11 year old son is sitting in the hospital with my wife, waiting for his surgery in a few hours. Such a difficult decision wether or not to get the surgery or just treat it with antibiotics, but we’ve opted for surgery. Just don’t want this to come back on him and experience what you did. Hope we’re making the right choice 🙏

In US in the military. Was having stomach pains, no appetite. Going to on base Sick Call. Told it was gas. Then indigestion. Then heartburn. As an instructor I fainted giving students instructions. Taken by ambulance to military base emergency room. An older officer medical Dr. hit my right boot with his fist. Diagnosis "hot appendicitis." Getting cut out of my military fatigues straight to surgery. Diagnosis, "perforated appendix." Open surgery, spent 5 days in hospital on antibiotics. I asked if I could be discharged from hospital, as my birthday was in 2 days, and I didn't want to be in hospital on my birthday. Surgical Dr. said. "If you can stand upright and walk down hall and back, I'll discharge you." I grit my teeth, stood upright, and did it. I got released. The next morning woke up, bed covered in blood. Called my neighbor, fellow military friend of mine to go to military ER. Internal stitches had failed. Had to have external clamps removed and restitched internally. NO anesthesia or pain medicines. A roll of gauze in mouth to bite on. This is a true story.

I love all your Stitch stuff. Hope you feel better soon! Those 3 things you had to do... I had to that after a surgery and had them done within like 10 minutes of waking up. So, instead of letting me go home, they gave me a pill that knocked me out for another 4 or 5 hours...

My mom had her's out when she was 21. She didn't have the classic symptoms. She had generalized pain in her abdomen plus she felt sick. She went to the doctor several times and they finally told her it was all in her head. Not long after it ruptured, she passed out and was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery. This didn't happen to her in the US, but in the Netherlands, before she immigrated to the US.
