To be clear, Garmin won't stop supporting older watches. In fact, I have a 12 year old original Fenix 1 from 2012 that still works great and still connects and sync's to Garmin Connect. Garmin is really good at keeping devices working for their lifetime by sending out firmware updates and security updates as needed. What WILL probably happen is Garmin will stop ADDING new features to 3+ year old watches. I should have been more clear about that in this video!

Read as a Garmin product manager, let’s take inventory of old components we’re moving away from and assemble those parts into a budget watch. But also overcharge for it.

Your videos after the reveal today were definitely my favorite ones compared to the others

I got a Fenix 6 pro on black friday after the 7 launched. Upgraded from a Instinct solar. I use my watch a lot, running, biking, training, climbing ect. I literally can't imagine a reason to upgrade. Even as tech savvy, gadget loving nerd

$800 and not having the gen5 sensor is just crazy.

Even the epix gen2 pro with gen5 sensor is ~150$ cheaper in my location…

The way you spelled out the Fenix E and Epix Gen 2 is perfect. Looking forward to more podcasts!

If Garmin does stop providing updates for the Epix, I have an Epix Gen 2, and an Epix Pro 51mm, if they kill it off with no software updates, I will likely no longer do business with Garmin. Rendering a $1, 100 dollar watch I bought less than two years ago EOL is absurd.

The Fēnix E will retail for $1080 CAD / $800 USD at launch. The Epix Gen 2 can be had *today* for $600 CAD / ~$450 USD from Canada's largest electronics retailer.

$799CAD for Fenix E and a whopping $1479 for the 47 Fenix 8. Unless you’re into diving, it’s not worth it. The prices are getting crazy. And I’m not a fan of paying more for AMOLED. I’m still extremely happy with my Fenix 6 Pro (that was about $500CAD).

Looks like he is putting the Pixel 3 through its paces. Looking forward to the review

Literally have the Epix 2, and don't think I need an upgrade at the moment. Yet the Fenix 8 is nice, and the fact that the software updates may not come has me on the fence of keeping the Epix 2. The newer software would honestly have me keep the Epix for at least another 2 years.

I've had an Epix Gen 2 pretty much since it came out, and I still absolutely love it. From what reviews I've seen of the Fenix 8, I don't feel that I'm missing much, but I guess I'll keep an eye out on future updates

A rebranded Epix non-Pro for 800$ is just a joke... Just for a slightly different UI and design.
I also note that there's not any new feature for running, cycling or swimming in the F8 line-up.
I'll stick with my 955 which is on-par with these F8 for my use case.

Prices are out of control. Cellular is the only feature that might make me upgrade my Epix 2

I own a Epix Gen. 2 and I am worried a little bit now, lets hope we'll see more updates on the Epixes..

In Germany you can get a 7 pro for <600€ … - the 8 starts at 1100€ - that is just completely nuts. The 8s with only AMOLED has really bad battery runtime. But yeah, you have a bad voice assistant and some niche features for divers. Great, exactly what I need on a run/bike ride - it feels like they don‘t know their core persona/target group for a Fenix. Built a smart watch. Build a diving watch. Let the Fenix be a great Allrounder with very long battery life. I love Garmin over other smart watches, but I do really not understand the strategy and I won’t buy a 1100€ device with 5 days runtime. I don’t even understand the „Fenix E“. A Budget Fenix that is more expensive then the previous flagship with worse functionality? WTF? I will drive my 7S in the ground and than probably look for some other brand, if Garmin sticks to this strategy.

If the Fenix e had improved electronics inside it I would expect battery life to be different as it generally would use less power if it does the same thing on newer chips
