That's actually how they tell you to wash it in the instructions if I remember correctly. I have always cleaned it this way. And for anyone wondering if a Vitamix is worth the money... I've had mine for almost 10 years. It's worth the money.

If your blender can, unscrew the bottom, remove the bottom and the blades and clean it all. Assemble.
