Was nervous about trying to work on my squealing elderly toilet last night. Following some site's cleaning tip, I poured a cup of vinegar in the yucky old tank to sit overnight, intending to try to fix the toilet today. But guess what? No squealing when flushed this morning. Waited an hour. Still no squealing. Miracle! Hard water build-up maybe? Dunno. But your easy-to-follow directions will be needed soon, no doubt. Many thanks and best wishes.

I fixed it for $0.... watch till 50 seconds … once that valve is in your hand take the black cap off … lift the black plunger up … turn it counterclockwise till the top comes off … when it is off … clean the black rubber valve that is now in your hand … put it back on clockwise.  Continue watching video to put it back on.  Walla it is fixed for $0!
