Consider it a gift that you got to interview her.

This video is gonna be crazy! Just hearing that someone born in 1910 is still kicking, and isn't even the oldest person alive is crazy to think about.

My great grandmother died at 113 in Jamaica back in 2012. She was born August 25, 1899.

When she quoted Psalm 23 I got the goosebumps seriously just wanted to cry.

God obviously gave her a gift that she didn’t even ask for. She’s clearly a miracle.

Love that her mind is still sharp, probably the most important part.

She was born just 30 years after slavery ended.

She lived half her life in the Jim Crow era.

Let that sink in, incredible for one person's lifespan, but it just goes to remind that it wasn't really that long ago

When she stated her favorite bible verse, I started crying 😢

She looks about 75 years old, I wouldn't even believe that she is 113 years old

She lived through the following events
1. First Balkan War
2. Sinking of the Titanic
3. World War I
4. Fall of the German Empire, Austria-Hungary, Russian Empire, and the Ottoman Empire
5. Spanish Flu
6. Formation of the USSR
7. The Great Depression
8. Spanish Civil War
9. World War II
10 Chinese Civil War
11. Fall of all the European Empires (British Empire, Second French Empire, Belgium Empire, etc)
12. All of the Cold War (Korean War, Vietnam War, Soviet-Afghan War, Cuban Missle Crisis, etc)
13. Dissolution of the USSR
14. Russia's invasion of Georgia and Ukraine
15. Israel - Hamas War
16. Covid - 19 pandemic
and so much more that I haven't listed. This woman deserves all the respect in the world!

Edit: I'm aware I didn't list some other events like Jim Crow Laws, Second Balkan War, Martin Luther King Jr, etc. If I did, this list would go on to like 50 events.

It's crazy how much history this woman has been through. WOI, WOII, the big depression, JFK assassination, Cold War, Vietnam war times, 9/11 ... but also the separation of races by law, the change of the civil rights act and the racism still present today.

I have a great great grandma that is 99 years old. She was so healthy that she doesn't even need a cane to walk. She lived through all of the world wars and the great depression. I hope I'm able to meet her soon when my dad has the time.

She was born the same year as my grandmother who passed in 1978. She is a beautiful and brilliant blessing. 🙏🏿

I have a degree in speech pathology. Her ability to quote a long passage she had memorized - Psalm 23 - is called automated speech. Lots of people who aren’t able to talk much are still able to do automated speech, such as quoting the Pledge of Allegiance, quoting song lyrics, listing the months of the year, saying the ABC’s, or quoting memorized Bible verses.

My maternal grandmother is 97. Still functions well mentally, can still hear but she can’t walk due to medical purposes. Honestly I think having a stressless life and her children taking care of her is keeping her alive. She doesn’t drink or smoke but she’s not eating the healthiest diet in the world, in fact she won’t eat anything new outside of what she already likes. Since I’ve been alive, she’s always lived with her children.

I think living on chill mode for a couple of decades helps.

What's crazy is she probably isn't the oldest person in the United States, there was this lady at my mom's job a few years ago (she works at a nursing home) and there was this lady who she was nursing who didn't have a birth certificate, so they would write their birthdays on a bible to keep track of their birthday, her date aligned with her being 118 years old, but because there was no birth certificate, no one could confirm it.

My great grandmother was born in 1899 and passed when she was 100 and my grandmother was born in the 1920’s and she passed recently at 101 years old

Her reciting that Bible verse completely melted me🤗. I went into healthcare for people like her. I would have loved to talk to her and hear her amazing stories. She lived through The Black Codes, Jim Crow, The Harlem Renaissance, the Civil Rights Movement, the systemic decimation of the nuclear Black family, etc. I'm sure she has been through things I couldn't even fathom happening to myself. I would love to pick her brain. She is 34 years older than my granny. Incredible blessing. Bless her heart💜.
