2023 Emboss Update (10:11 in the video). The new emboss tool works on more surfaces, but has also impacted how the Emboss tool worked when this tutorial was recorded.
SOLUTION:
1. Activate Emboss
2. Uncheck 'Tangnet Chain' in the Emboss dialog. * Very important. This must be done *
3. Select the 4 sketch profiles (two halves of the circle, two rectangles)
4. Switch to the 'Faces' selector in the Emboss Dialog
5. Select the top face of the doorstop (the largest face).
6. Hold the CMD Key (Mac) or CTRL Key (Windows) to select the remaining two top faces.
7. Select OK to confirm the Emboss.

If anybody on windows is having issues at the 10 minute mark with the embossing, select the the 4 areas then when you get to faces deselect the tangent chain then select faces and hold CRTL when selecting the top 3 faces and you’ll be able to select them individually giving you the result you need. This is what I did and it worked perfect.

3:28 - If the directional arrow is pointing down when chamfering when you want it to go horizontal, click the "flip" button to change the direction of the chamfer. You can then enter 15mm at 25 degrees.

Hey! For anyone still having problems with the embossing of the lines, I figured out a workaround: Instead of doing a 2 point circle I just created a 3 point arc at the top of the rectangle, then after selecting it in the emboss tool it worked perfectly. I don't know why, but it was having trouble with the 2 halves of the circle that you needed to select.

This series has taken the amazement of 3d printing to another level. Before, I would look at posted projects online and decide they wouldn't work for my specific needs and was out of luck. Now I can make my own brackets or components to remix or create my own project entirely. Very excited to see where the rest of the series gets me.

As a new customer for Fusion 360, this one was more challenging. I made this model twice but the information solidified in my mind the second time around. Many practical applications for future projects. Great series!! You are an excellent teacher!

I am here to let you know that just one of these videos will do more to enlighten the 3d modeler than Autodesk's entire getting-started course. Thank you, my friend. I will gratefully pick up any information you so generously put down.

FILLETS PROBLEM (at 11:14) - if they doesn't apply properly and the edges are not rounded use not 1mm value but 0.9999mm. This solved the problem for me.

This series is brilliant, thank you for updating it! Both the new interface as well as your teaching and production skills have improved. 👍🏼

Hi again Kevin. Encountered an error message when filleting those last top ridges: "Fillet/chamfer encountered a non-manifold edge or vertex". What does this actually mean in words of one syllable and more importantly, how does one address the issue?

How are you making chamfer of 15 mm on the edge of the 10mm size @03:32? I get a could not be created at requested size error.

Because of you, I started 3d modeling because it's fun! I'll buy a 3d printer this year.

Another great video from you, now I am doing some of my own designs thanks to your videos. They are not the most difficult designs, but they help me in the house. A holder for toilet paper, and a vacuum cleaner adapter, so I can clean in tight spaces (easy with the offset plane and loft functions).

This was tricky. I put the flange on backwards but was able to create some mirror lines on the bottom to flip the darn thing to the correct side. I feel empowered. The doorstop is very fun to create. Thank you again!

Love the series. Started learning Fusion Yesterday and got to this lesson. 10 hours later, my daughter sees the pinned comment, and I am finally able to emboss. New experience for me, but now I know.

I’ve been binge watching this series for a couple hours now, and have gained a small fortune worth of knowledge & technique. So many highly efficient ways to do things vs. the buffoonery I’ve employed while farting around in fusion the past couple years. One day I’m gonna quit my job and start designing and manufacturing things. In my industry you’re what we call a “heavy set of hands”. Bravo sir, thank you for the fantastic content in consumable chunks!

My arrow was pointing toward the bottom of the part at around 3:00 so I kept getting an error. Anyway to force the arrow to point in the other direction? Edit: Doh! flip direction icon....
