If you having "rigidly assembled" problems with the first Joint at 1:20 look to see if the component has an anchor icon on it. Right click on the component and select "unground from parent" to get rid of the anchor and allow the component move.

Awesome videos! This is really invaluable stuff, and all for free. Incredible, thank you so much.

Thanks so much for taking the time to redo this series for the new UI. Great stuff! I'm looking forward to episodes related to importing meshes, which confuse me.

Took me a while this lesson! But I'm finally done and very proud of my progress!
The reason it took a bit longer than anticipated was because my phone is the S24 Ultra and I could not for the life of me find a STEP file for it as it was only released last week! The ones I did find were paid for models.
So before I could even do the phone case I set myself the challenge of using what I had learned in the first 8 lessons and model my phone myself!
I started with finding bottom, side and rear reference images and worked from there! Took me about 10 hours to get it all perfect. Mainly due to having a shit set of calipers for measuring less than 1mm gaps! I have ordered a pair of digital ones now!
So after I got my working phone model I set about following the lesson but had to improvise some steps due to the phone not being the same all the way round. The sides are curved but the tip and bottom flat so I couldn't just Sweep the outside so easily. I managed it in the end!
Parametric modelling is tricky! But I'm enjoying the process! Thanks for making it a fun journey and being so clearly spoken.

I write down the mistakes I experienced, lest others repeat them. - You need to open the file as "STP" rather than "STL" to proceed with the video.

A good one, I enjoyed this. few issues due to me choosing the base of the iphone to sketch off, but able to slightligh offset the extrude to cater for the 0.25mm gap!

i like that now 10 lessons in i can grab different models and figure out other ways to do what your doing instead of copying A to A

I’ve really been enjoying the series, but, as another commenter stated, this one seems to assume a bit too much F360 knowledge on my part. It’s not always clear WHY I’m doing something. For example, the “Joint” action. Perhaps you have other videos that go into depth on certain functions. I know it’s probably a matter of practice, but when I go back and try to recreate the steps on my own, I often have trouble remembering some of these finer points. I’m hanging in there though!

5:12 - The "Offset Faces" feature can't be used.
The error notice say: "Error: An existing fillet or chamfer could not be deleted. Try suppressing or deleting existing fillets/chamfers before attempting the operation."
I deleted the two top & bottom fillets and tried again, but got the same error notice.

3:20 - The offset tool doesn't want to select more than *one* segment. Any segment can be selected, but that immediately renders the other segments unselectable. If I select all the segments before opening the tool, I get the error notice "could not offset curves". The previous 9 lessons have been VERY easy to follow, but this one seems to skip over too much.

what's the difference between "offset faces" and "press pull"? (I'm coming from 123D design, where I used Press/Pull every 15 seconds, is why I ask)

Awesome series! i have learned so much on this series! you mentioned you were going to include more references for locations to find stp files. I am trying to find a file for a Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 but cant find it anywhere.

This is the first one I have not been able to figure out. First of all I am using a Iphone 13 ProMax step file. It has 12 bodies when I import it. Then if I can merge all of them together, I CANNOT get the model to orient to lay flat. Anyone please help.

Hey, amazing series, thanks for the great content!

I have a specific issue for an iPhone 13 case. The bottom speaker holes (right) extend beyond the sketch surface, onto another surface thats curved (bottom right edge) so even know I can project the speaker holes to the bottom sketch, when I go to extrude, the part of the speaker thats on the curve surface remains uncut.

I hope im explaining this well enough; is there a way to extrude that little piece as well?

@ProductDesignOnline Hey mate im curious why at 7:20 when extruding the usb C charging port hole on the case, why did you switch extent type to object and selected the object, rather than just using "distance" like you started to? (with the -6 input) ... You didnt have an explanation and im wondering if theres any benefit to doing it your way rather than just using "distance" for the extrude? ... Looks the same when done both ways, just trying to learn more! Thanks for your time and all your work in bringing us these tutorials. really hope you have more after this 30 day series!

P.S. ALSO NEED HELP WITH this last thing. I was able to do the usb c port, after reading @TheMartijin comment about how to do it right (since your process was giving issues), and I moved on to do the side buttons, but when i extruded my projected shape it left a thin layer from the opposite direction of my extrude command. so i had to extrude a second time and flip it the other direction to cut out that 1 layer wall.... its not a big deal, but im curious why it did it like that for me? Rather than properly like the USB c port?

I can do a 2 mm chamfer on the center button but for some reason, it won't let me do it on the camera cut out. My extrude is 2mm and my sketch looks identical to the one in the video. I can do 1.9 which looks similar but not 2. Any ideas?

Many thanks for these tutorials, Kevin! Super helpful resource.

Just curious - is the reason you're doing an update to this beginners series due to the Fusion 360 software changing, or is it more to do with better practices and more efficient solutions you've discovered over the years? Trying to decide whether to wait for the upcoming videos in this series or use the old series. Thank you!
