Distal Radius Fracture - Broken Wrist - Wrist Fracture

This video is a FractureInfo guide to your wrist fracture. This occurs following a break in your radius bone at the level of the wrist. These injuries generally do very well treated in a splint or a plaster cast. Occasionally surgery may be required.

I have been driving with my left arm in a sugar tong splint ( Fractured distal radius non dislocated ) and sling since day 1..and a 5-speed stick shift at that! Not easy..not ideal but doable..I mean I have to drive to work! I just have to remain in 1st gear a little bit longer when making a turn as I can't shift from 1st to 2nd and hold the wheel too! Now, going on 5 weeks, I can use my left hand to guide the wheel on turns and shift! We do what we have to do!! It's not illegal but I know it's frowned on...I have managed in FL rush hour countless times doing 60 miles each day!

Thank you. I have broken my wrist and it is day 5 since the cast went on. It is throbbing a bit and very uncomfortable at the moment. I will hold my hand on the opposite shoulder and take more pain killer. It is reassuring to know what to do when in pain. I go back to the clinic next Monday.

Very informative. I am going in for an X ray tomorrow but its 2 weeks since I broke my wrist and its been in a splint and I have followed your advice about keeping my fingers moving. I cant quite make a fist yet but mobility is returning. Thanks as this helped heaps. I was loathe to go to hospital due to Covid as I have comorbitities and havent completed my vaccine course yet. However I let my GP know as it wasnt getting better very fast and she arranged an outpatient appt. and Xray so I didnt have to sit 4 hours in A and E. This video helped such a lot that I subscribed.

Hi, I have had my distal radius surgery done 15 days ago. My stitches have now come of but the doctor has still put me in a long arm cast for two more weeks due to ulnar fracture, is it normal to be put in a long arm cast?

I had a distal radius hairline fracture and it has been 40 days. For 20 days i was in a cast and then for 21 days doctor suggested splint. But, even now i still have some swelling and pain on the area. I am able to type now and was able to move hand and fingers freely except the thumb. Is this common?

Hi I broke my scaphoid and dislocated my wrist i ended up in a cast for 4months 2 weeks and had 2 opps 1 a month after the brake and then the 2nd 2 month later now i have 0 upwards movement and carnt even get my wrist straight but can move down slightly and 0 side to side were would you recomend me to go it feels realy tight on the tendands that run just below the palm of my left hand but that could just be me also i get pins and nedles all the time and have not much temp feeling in it (broke on the 14th march 2017)

Both of the bones in my wrist broke and ive got a cast up to my shoulder, after a week is it normal that my bones click when i move my arm?
