In my 40s - wasn't given much of a choice - ortho insisted on surgery. 5 weeks out of surgery - lots of pain still on both ulnar and radial sides. I swear I can feel the screws. Had a half cast for a week - then free. I've been doing PT for 4 weeks. This guy doesn't mention that you'll be in PT 2x a week for months with a co-pay each time. Numbness in my palm and pinky. Range of motion is limited and strength is almost nonexistent. I'm a pianist and practice light finger exercises and scales, but only for 15 minutes at a whack. So far I've made a lot of progress - but then again, I have the time and money to not have to worry about rushing back to work. I don't know how a regular person under 65 in the US could deal with the burden. I should have just gone with the cast. Surgery is painful, invasive, long recovery, and what a long ugly scar!

I thank God that I broke my wrist shortly after becoming eligible for Medicare. Chose the ORIF. Total out of pocket has been about 300 bucks. I see that the billing to Medicare, for whatever that is worth, was over 60 k!

I had an car accident in early x-ray doctor said that there is a radius wrist fracture the put 3 days bndge called me back at hospital after 3 days removed tmperary cast asked me to move my wrist finger I did it very easily.so Orthopedist asked me to go home with out any cast.
I was moving around lifting light weights without any pain.
Few days later my GP asked me to do MRi I did it and they said the same thing distal fructure they put my hand in cast.
So it normally to have distal fructure without pain????

I am 39 years old, I fell from the chair with wheels on the carpet and broke my wrist. They diagnosed distal Fracture, and told me is borderline . may or may not need surgery. But they said better to have going to your joint!!! I have mild arthritis and osteoporosis. So I had surgery 8 days ago, I can move my fingers but pain getting worse or not getting better going up on my elbow and trochlea. I am worried about it? Could this give me complications?
