Every morning, my guest on this week’s episode starts her day with 30-minutes of exercise. She knows – from personal experience backed by scientific research – that this makes her more focused, happy, motivated, and even creative. She knows it’ll help her grow new brain cells and neural pathways, long into old age. And she wants you to reap all these benefits too.

I started exercising 34 years ago, walking with my newborn in a stroller. I could not believe how my postpartum mood was elevated by this simple walk with my baby. I’ve never stopped, mainly because of the mental benefits I received directly from walking. Walking led to running to triathlon, to yoga, to weight training. At 65, I will do my 9th half Ironman competition soon. None of this was inspired by a change in my physical appearance, but solely on the antidepressant effect movement has on my life. I often feel “young” years old when I complete an aerobic running workout, it’s indescribable. I play piano for fun and find that when I run well, the piano flows much better. Great discussion!

Her facial expressions and the way she talks, are in themselves animating and have a positive impact on me. What a great woman!

Yes! that's my routine in the morning. 30 min exercise. It's true and it works. 🌞 Add prayer to complete. 🙏

YES! I had times with working out 30 minutes in the morning (mostly running - treadmill or in the nature). I was happy and went to work with kind of a protecting shield around me. No bad emotions/persons could harm me. I sadly lost this habit. But I will start again tomorrow! Thank you for the research. Greetings from Austria

"I can attest to this!! Exercise truly is better than taking a pill. Working full-time and stress can be a major obstacle. I had eye surgery when I was 61 years old. As a result I was disqualified from driving a commercial vehicle. This was in April of 2020. I decided to remove some stress in my life so I retired early. When I recovered from surgery I started exercising. I started doing the things I love like rollerblading and ice skating. When I began to listen to my body. I knew that I had to "change my diet;" so I basically eliminated processed food and ultra processed food. Now I do all of my own cooking and have added more protein.
Now I have virtually removed stress in my life and I look forward to waking up every morning. I am now ice skating two to three times a week and I play hockey with a group of men every Saturday morning. I am now down to my weight when I was in my 20s after losing 30 lb. My social life has improved since I started going back to church every week. I smile a lot more because I feel so much better. This doesn't mean alll stress has been removed it just means that you can handle stress much better.

For almost six years i was working out in the morning as part of my life without even knowing these brilling benefits of movements. I was so energetic but never even knew the reason why I felt that way

Her movements when she talks is the first thing I noticed.. She is a gorgeous woman and person the way she speaks with her facial expressions and her physical mannerisms.

I am 74, diagnosed as having Type 2 diabetes two months ago. Although I walk 3.5 miles a day, it is too cold to go outside. So since last month, first thing in the morning, I run around the downstairs of my house for 30 mins. This counts up to nearly 4, 000 steps. I feel energetic and raring to go after I finish.

Wendy, you radiate energy. Totally agree with your thesis on exercise, I've followed a morning 30minute routine for over 2 years now. My mood & focus are much better & I recommend it to everyone.

This is the best interview and pointing out the old thinking (which I am always stuck in) if you can’t do a killer workout or a full hour exercise - no gain to be made. Love that point made of how 10 minutes is enough to shift our mood and thinking as well as give us motivation to do more and move more! Great info!

Praying and reading scriptures first thing in the morning puts me in the right state of mind. It is like meditation. When I exercise (cardio, stretching...) I don't put pressure on myself with the strict time schedule, and do it later in the day but not everday. My favorite workout has been running for many years but I have to keep in mind that with age, recovery time is longer. A balance of praying and physical exercise works for me. I would like to look at any study about the effects of prayer and meditation with physical exercise. Thank you for this video.

This is such an important message. I wish the whole world knew, maybe it would also be easier for us to make the much needed changes together, so we all could feel better and live better, healthier and happier lives ❤
