Hi hello. I have been counting calories for over a year now and fell into this position. I simply am stuck and I try my hardest to get out of this mindset, I don’t enjoy food anymore and I’m afraid it won’t get better. I’ve had meals without counting calories before, but they end up turning into binges and it leads to me eating over 6 thousand calories. I regret it afterwards and it leads to me tracking again and again until I decide to do another day without counting. If I’m in a restaurant or let’s say the buffet, i have to ask the manager for a nutrition label of the food. It truly is hard to go back and i should have taken note of this before starting calories.

Okay so what do you do when youre weight restored, and youre not always hungry physically but hungry mentally? I have mental hunger and its frustrating

Hey Rachel! I just freaked out eating tons of kernels because the high calorie identity was so deeply rooted in my brain. BTW, I'm in recovery from my relapse after gaining over 50 pounds and I'm so scared to continue eating while I want my period back so bad.😭

Great video! I also think that counting calories is unhealthy habit which ruins the pleasure of eating. On the other hand I'm a bit confused regarding counting cals in early recovery, especially in relation to those people who don't have reliable hunger cues and tend to undereat. I think that those people may track calories for a while, just to wake up their true hunger. I'm at the begining of my recovery and right now I'm starting to expierience extreme hunger, so I don't need to count. I know I'm eating enough (in fact way, way more). I have reguest, Rachel. Could you make a video about extreme hunger in recovery from eating disorders? I'm curious about your experience with EH. Did you have it? And if so, how did you go through this really, really though phase? Thank you for your great videos. Keep posting! <3

How do you make sure you hit your calorie-min if you dont cound calories though? I find calorie counters really hindering for my recovery, but I´m afraid I wont eat enough..

i like calorie counting. just not in a restrictive way. just making sure im not eating too little or too much and realizing everyday’s hunger is different.
