My OB and neurologist ordered me to have a strong cup of coffee every morning with all my pregnancies. It was due to my severe migraines. I had to stop my preventative meds and caffeine helps reduce migraines so less treatment meds would be needed.

Yeah I noticed my mom stopped drinking coffee in every single pregnancy but still drank tea because we come from a strong tea culture

I never drank coffee before until I was pregnant.. I started drinking coffee when I was pregnant because that's when they came out with the flavored coffee creamer..

I am a HUGE espresso drinker. I completely quit caffeine tea and soda when I was pregnant and breastfeeding. It was the most exhausting period of my life.

Honestly, talk to your personal doctor who knows you because there are a lot of factors on how much you should/shouldn't drink.

During my pregnancy I was told by my OB-GYN not to consume caffeine because it can reduce your iron absorption leading to pregnancy related anemia and a smaller baby. Studies have shown that as little as half a cup of coffee per day can reduce the birth weight of the baby, but not by much. People who consume more than 200 mg of caffeine have the highest risk for low birth weights in their newborns. For some pregnancies where you know you typically have very large babies, and the risk of complications from that, it might be in your best interest to talk to your doctor about you picking up a cup a day green tea habit during your pregnancy. For other pregnancies, like mine where I already had a low pregnancy weight and was borderline for anemia it was in my best interest to cut caffeine and add extra proteins and extra dark leafy greens. Your doctor will know your nutritional needs best.

I gave it up during pregnancy my gut feeling told me it was bad. I also gave up junk food, sodas, tried to eat clean food, more veggies. Still had a 9.5 lb baby boy.

Im 9 weeks as of today and sadly I hate coffee at the moment. It really breaks my heart, lol. I probably started hating in my 6th week.

I'm so sensitive to it I think it's probably different per person/fetus.

My midwife team said I can have a max of 300 mg per day. Though I have never had that much caffeine in my life so I'm not ever worried about hitting their max lol

When I was pregnant with my first the only thing that I wanted to drink was Mountain Dew. Although I was actually advised to cut back a lot on the amount of Mountain Dew that I was consuming. The reason being because there's like 91 mg of caffeine per one 20oz bottle and I was drinking a minimum of 5 of the big giant Polar pops a day. What's funny is that Mountain Dew is my eldest son's favorite drink. 😅

This is crazy because I was told no caffeine during pregnancy. I had my kids in the 90s. But now they’re saying pregnant women can’t have deli meat because of listeria risk? That was not a thing in the 90s. I was also told you should never color your hair during your pregnancy because of the chemicals. So who knows what’s accurate anymore.

Not related to the caffeine, but how old do I need to be to get an elective hysterectomy? I really hate my periods and I never plan on having kids. I saw one of your older videos where you explained how getting your ovaries removed can decrease your life expectancy, but what about the uterus alone? Can I get it electively removed when I’m in my mid twenties?

I was told by a family nurse practitioner not to have coffee because it could cause me to think I was going into a false labor. Idk I still dranked coffee but kept it to 2/3 times a week.

I couldn't take sugar during my pregnancies, so all hot stuff was cut off.. No milk, no sodas. No meat, just veggies and fruits, beans, fish, and anything cold, even during winter.. ❤

Basically don't drink an energy drink, but do enjoy your morning cuppa. Mine is max 80mg.

You didn't talk about instances where people have MASSIVE caffeine intakes prior to pregnancy, didn't plan to get pregnant and don't want withdrawals.

I had 4 kids, and every pregnancy I did have a cup of coffee. Not every day. But I would only have a (1) cup of coffee! It never failed, some rando in public would chastise me for it...oh well. My kids are here and just fine. I consult my doc/midwife about that....

My OBGYN asked how much caffeine I drank a day… I gave her an estimate of how many sodas I drank a day. She said I just needed to cut back a little

I am a coffee drinker, but this was not an issue for me during my pregnancy because coffee made me nauseated. Even the smell 😅😂
