Industry Nine is known for making some of the best mountain bike and road wheels, hubs, and accessories. Their products are all machined and assembled right here in the USA and have become synonymous with quality and innovation. While the Industry Nine Torch hub was widely loved, I9 is back with something even better this time around. Introducing the all new Hydra and 101 hubs. Featuring a jaw-dropping 690 points of engagement, the Hydra raises the bar on hub technology all while aiming to create a more reliable and consistent hub platform. We were lucky enough to have Charlie from I9 come by with a few sets to test and wanted to address some commonly asked questions regarding the new product. In this video, Jeff and Charlie discuss Industry Nine history, Hydra vs Torch, and more. Enjoy!

Just switched to a 305 w/ hydra from a roval traverse and am completely spoiled with the engagement. I also love the fact that I do not need a bell when descending as I now sound like a swarm of bees! 8)

Man, I just can't wrap my head around the whole "flex will automatically engage 2-4 more pawls depending on how much torque is applied" thing. I'm sure they've done their homework, but my admittedly simple mind sure likes the "entire face of a DT ratchet always engaging, no matter what" scenario much Great video as always guys! Your channel is so freakin' good.

FYI, for a pair of 32 spoke wheels with the choice of 11 different colors, there are (6.5x10^70) different options to choose from. If you want the front and back to be the same, you'll have to settle on one of the unique options.

I just stick playing cards in my spokes for that expensive, irritating, look at me hub sound :)

I think i9 should offer the old Torch hub with the updated end caps, and pawl system. Seems like leafs could give the same pressure as the springs without being so apt to wanting fly away. Some of us want our wheels loud.

Other ideas would be to put stiffer leafs in the Hydra hubs to make it louder. Either is an option many of us would pay extra for.

1. Stiff leaf pack for the Hydra, $29.95 cant see 6 pieces of metal costing much more.
2. Torch 2.0 updated torch hubs. With the same loudness you always loved. Same price as Hyda

I just got my set of Hydra hubs. I was blown away by how indistinguishable one engagement is from the next. So little gap between the clicks.

Need the louder hubs for the cycle paths, so no need for a bell!!

I like low engagement hubs as a DH rider having float is very necessary whenit gets Rocky! Highest I'd ever go would be like 84teeth

Let’s face it no one buys these for the instant engagement hubs or for the fact that they are made in the U.S.A

You get the for the awesome sound they make!

I’m planning on building a 650b gravel set. It looks like the Mtn wheels are the only way to get 6bolt disc. I’m just not a fan of CL and like all my bikes to have 6bolt wheels. I’ll give you a call when I’m ready to configure a Wheelset
