How Bad is the Pain from Limb Lengthening Surgery to Get Taller

When it comes to the pain of leg lengthening surgery to get taller or to fix a height length discrepancy there are a group of questions I tend to get asked over and over such as...

How bad is the pain from the surgery right after and weeks after?
What can it be compared to?
Is the pain local in the area of the break or does it radiate?
Does it get worse when you distract, move around or do physical therapy?
And finally, what can you do to make the pain more tolerable?

This takes no pain no gain to a whole new level.

Imagine being scared of pain. Life itself is more painful than this surgery, most people can agree on that.

I’m literally watching this from the hospital bed on third day after femurs LON surgery. The pain today is crazy and I know I’ll have few more really painful days ahead but after week one I’m expecting the pain to reduce daily as I’ve been told by my Dr so here confirms it our hero Victor and it’s very comforting for me watching this video right now.

Bro, thank you SO MUCH. I'm having my consultation done this Friday and it's all because of the way you talk us about the process. It no longer looks as scary, and I more or less know what to expect. Furthermore, thanks to you I am going to make an informed decision based on calculated risk not on my desire to grow. If it's alright with you I'm going to ask my doctor to hire you, or to send business your way in some way, or to collaborate with you somehow, because nothing has prepared me for this process like you have and I feel like you are responsible for many of us achieving our dreams in a safe and informed manner.

For me, I had a completely different experience. And it’s so cool to see other people’s experiences with pain.

I love the honesty & solutions in this video. Especially, the "cast" idea for the leg(s). Absolutely superb information. Thank you.

I'm getting this in about 5 years, being 5'7 1/2 or 5'8 w/o shoes, and close to 5'10 with shoes, yeah I'm done with this sh*t, I want to live life to the fullest and be as happy as I can. I'm done being this insecure, I'm going to get this surgery so I can be 5'11 w/o shoes, and be 6 ft with shoes in public. I will shred my insecurity, no way I'm living life being short

Thanks for making these videos. I did femurs about 7 months ago...and am considering doing the tibs. LL is no joke, and takes forever to get better...although your athletic condition assisted you. I have watched a couple vids, will watch all and future videos. Thanks for stepping out and revealing this and all the info.

Wow, People really opting to do this for height! I have a bone disorder (MHE) that interferes with symmetrical bone growth, at 12 years old I was given the option to have my right arm lengthened (it's considerably shorter) after hearing about the procedure, stretching, and loss of range of motion. I opted out then when given the decision again for my leg not as bad as my arm I again opted out. Good luck to those choosing to do this. I wish I had an actual choice instead of living with MHE.

I'm 5'1 and Trans FTM and it fucking sucks. I'm probably gonna get this soon. I'd endure a few months of excruciating pain for a lifetime of high confidence about my height.

My seven year old had this 5 days ago because his right leg is two and a half inches shorter than the left.He is so scared and frustrated.

Pain for a lifetime (always made fun of, looked down on by society for being short) vs temporary pain (surgery)? Hmm

I did LON method on my femeur. And the pain level is insane. From the surgery date until the day you reach ur height, there will always be pain. Pain level varies by day and time. Pain level is really intense and high 1st month. Also bear mind you get random pain that comes and goes throughout the lengthening phase. For example i had pain in my inner right knees only which made bending super painful. You get awful back pains. Mental problems. Trauma. Low apetite. Time goes slow. I'm personally very intolerant when it comes to pain. I cry regularly because of the pain and decision ive made. This is only my story. Check people whom have done LON on Femeur.

Hey man I was diagnosed with scoliosis because of a rare hip disease that stunted the growth in my right leg in june I had surgery to lengthen my right leg to match my left after 3 months of PT I got a physical pin in earlier this week the second time is nowhere near as painful and I can actually walk and put all my weight on it without it hurting I just cant lift it up or bend it all the way yet. Good video you give a lot of detail thank you so much for doing a good job explaining although we went through semi different operations
