It is important to acknowledge that there are likely many happy owners out there who have not experienced problems with these cars. If you are one of them then more power to you! The good ownership experiences, however, do not erase the many bad ones. This reliability information is sourced from a combination of reputable organizations, surveys, and anecdotal data from regular mechanics who work on these cars. The pattern across all data shows that these particular cars are worth thinking twice about.

"Mercedes (and BMW, Jaguar, Porsche, Audi, Range Rover, etc.) are endless money pits when the warranty runs out. Lease one for three years and get it out of your system".

The heated rear window on Range Rovers is great for your hands whilst pushing them home during the winter!

i'd say that one of the biggest problems is people buying vehicles and not knowing how to drive or maintain.

The Aussies have a great saying. If you are going into the Outback take a Land Rover; but if you want to get home take a Toyota!!!

same thing as what Scotty Kilmer says, with less hand waving.

if you have a Range Rover and want to go offroading bring a friend who owns a Toyota Land Cruiser so you can have someone tow you back home

When it comes to reliability, no cars could match those “Made in Japan.” Period.

As a retired technician who's worked on just about everything, I have to agree with most of these choices. My biggest question is, though, how in the world did Mini Cooper not make your list?

Great information. Basically confirmed my attitudes toward these brands and/or models, but good to have it confirmed by you!

I agree with the list of unreliable cars. I owned 2 BMW's, a 325i and X5 - purchased both NEW. I was under the impression these cars were built to last. After the warranty period, the cost to repair and service maintenance was unethical. It broke me, Because I loved the cars, I was young and stupid to keep them. It wasn't until 6 years into the X5 that I realize I was being stupid to pay for repairs. I traded the X5 for a Lexus. OMG! What a difference. With a Lexus, I haven't spent any time on repairs. I go to Lexus once a year strictly for oil/filter. With BMW, I missed so much time at work afraid I'd be fired, because the car kept breaking down. Never again will I buy a BMW or German car ever.

I got a 2009 Hyundai i30, it had about 25, 000km (16, 000 miles) when I bought it, it now has 372, 000km (233, 000 miles) on it. It's had a couple of issues, only minor, the most serious were the alternator and also the water pump. Apart from that, it's been a great car. It's even got a name..."Dimples", because it was caught in a hail storm a few years ago and has hail stone dents all over it. She's a good car...

My Kia Soul was $7.8k to replace the engine from the short block up. Fortunately my car is under warranty and because of that lack of sensor they extended the warranty to 120k miles. Please do your research on these cars, great video!

My 2011 kia Sportage has 260k and still running smooth. I only had to replace the brakes, alternator, and the timing belt so far. Other than those things, it's been 100% reliable without any minor or major issues.
