For me, Steven Sackur's accent is a gift from above.I understand almost everything that he says.He speaks relatively slowly and he enunciates every word he says.

Around the time when Tony Blair stepped down, there was a wildly entertaining double interview/convo on Hardtalk with John Bolton and Chris Patten, moderated by Zeinab Badawi on Blair, British Foreign policy, the Iraq War and the meaning and future of the "Special Relationship". Bolton took part by satellite link. I remember it because it was so, well, frank and the two men (who were opposites in many ways) sometiems barely acknowledged each other's questions but just expounded their own views of what the Special Relationship meant and how Bush's legacy ought to be seen.

Badawi, ever the professional, seemed to recognize that even if the two men were talking past one another it made great TV. :) It was so much fun watching - could you please dig that one out and upload it to Youtube in full?

Growing up, my dad a Kenyan Foreign Affairs civil servant enjoyed Hardtalk a lot. That way, I got hooked to Stephen and Zeinab, my all time favourite.

Seeing this after ages. Thank you for what you do. There are many situations where politicians, businessmen and other powerful figures would lie to their own countries, companies and communities, but cannot afford to do so in front of a global media institution. That is where I see the power of these interviews. I see you like a honey trap which traps out the bees who think they can best the trap.

The beginning of the video reminds me of the joe 90 birthday episode where they all gather round the table and recall precious memories

Tim Sebastian was one of the reasons I started studying at English Department at University of Łódź. His journalistic style, his expertise, his personality....huge impact on my life! I love politics, sociology but after watching Hard Talk for a few years I fell in love with journalism. Thank you Tim Sebastian.
