During a security council meeting at the United Nations, Ukraine's foreign minister, Dmytro Kuleba, asked for a minute of silence to be held in memory of all those who lost their lives due to 'Russian aggression'.

The silence was interrupted by Russia's representative, who could be seen raising his hand during the tribute. Russia's UN ambassador, Vasily Nebenzya, said: 'All lives are priceless ... we are rising to remember the memory [of all the victims],' before the minute's silence resumed. The meeting was held on the first anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

I love how you guys cut out the ending where they all stood up again.

A shame that Guardian News cut the video so as not to see that everyone stood up although quite forced.

why didn't you let the video continue when the russians asked to get up all the others ended up getting up

Why did the Guardian cut the clip short by 15 seconds? It was priceless to watch in other news outlets.

Feels dystopic. But it's actually the real world...wow.

Saw this in its entirety. Everyone later rose in respect to the president, the representative of Malta, who hesitantly rose after a while.

This speaks volumes as to how one values or devalues life.

Check for the full video where everyone stands back up; then compare it to this Guardian edit here, where they've given the distinct impression that his calls fell on deaf ears. Even if you are pleased with the deception on this occasion, you still have to take note for the future the fact that they *will* mislead you for some special purpose or other. Always bear this in mind.

Russia: "All lives are priceless"

Also Russia: *ignores the first round of mourning of victims*

This guy has been a complete POS his whole life and then over the last year he's kicked it into overdrive for all of us to see. I'm truly amazed every time I see him speak to the UN.

Surprisingly, this, somehow, was deeply moving... and for a moment, they were all judged by the truth in their hearts...

The ultimate disgrace is to call it a security council.
