Before scent pheromones do your research.many many of behaviours can be sorted by changing the environment like making sure both cats have access to their own water, food and toilet in separate parts of the property. Making sure they both have access to high spaces and areas where they can get away from each other . Make sure these things are covered first or you’re just medicating and doing a temporary fix instead of fixing the problem.

My grandma’s cats are a weird mix of green level and red level

I have 2 cats. 1 (girl) was raised with a sibling, but sadly the sibling past away. The 2nd cat we got (boy) was raised alone and abused (extremly shy and afraid of hand movements above his head (got much better since we got him)) Our girl likes him very much and often tries to cuddle with him, but because he doesnt seem to understand this, he thinks she either wants to play or threaten him. He also likes her (sometimes grooms her for a short moment and then proceeds to play with her, but they dont cuddle like our 1st did with her sibling. But you cant seperate them, they need to be close to each other, they often sleep next to each other and dont mind sharing food (often switching places while eating).

And they dont fight like cats do if they dont like each other. Of course they play and chase each other, but they dont scratch the other or hiss. Not even a growl. Its also always followed by resting next to the other

So please dont always interpret these behaviours as the yellow level. Sometimes cats had a bad past time or werent raised with other cats, leading to behaviours like this. Not all cats cuddle or groom each other. If they accept each other during eating or sleep, thats often a much bigger sign of trust.

Our neighbors had an outdoor cat named Oreo. They often went on long trips out of state and we would feed him or let him into our house in the winter when it went below freezing or if there was going to be a big storm. When we later got 2 more cats we introduced them through the window and towels exc. Oreo was a scrappy old guy. The first cat we got was a quiet but imperious girl called LC. She was “my cat” because when we met at the shelter she immediately went to hide under something. I got on the floor, pulled her out, and sat on the floor with her in my lap “protecting” her for the entire visit. Well when Oreo started coming into our house after we got LC be tried hissing at her once. So I snatched him up real quick and yeated him out the door and halfway across the deck. He was so surprised that he didn’t even have time to take a swipe at me and he never bothered LC again. Our next cat was a pretty linx point called Snowy. He was one of the cats that my grandfather feed in his neighborhood. On the night of our family reunion me, my sister, and my cousin all spent hours outside keeping him warm and away from our grandparents dogs. My parents wouldn’t let us take him home until one of the older great aunts called my dad up and bullied him into letting us give Snowy a home (my dad ended up the most in love with him so ha female intuition for the win). A year or so after we got Snowy our neighbors moved and we took custody of Oreo. He “retired” on our couch as the only indoor/outdoor cat of the bunch. Snowy was an absolute push over who would try to “start” fights but then run away if Oreo even looked at him. It was hilarious to see how Snowy would try and imitate Oreo. Oreo claimed some resting spots that snowy had never ben interested in before and all of a sudden the minute Oreo went outside Snowy would be sitting in his spot imitating the way Oreo sat. Oreo also picked up Snowy and LC’s “cute I want food” meowing… except he sounded like a 40 year old smoker while Snowy sounded like a quire boy and LC sounded like a chipmunk. Snowy and LC had the most continuous relationship. He annoyed her and would often start fights with her. She would soundly beat his behind and then they would go back to tolerating each other. Oreo was the crusty old wizard. LC was the queen. Snowy was the court Jester. We are down to just Snowy now. Old age claimed Oreo and LC but it was fun to see the gang all together while it lasted.

My 2 eldest cats are above green then- they are siblings (from the same litter) and I’ve had them for abt 10-11 years! All those years they’ve always snuggled, groomed, and hanged out with each other. Their bond is very strong!

My cats were mainly green with a few fights. One was put down recently due to illness meaning she couldn't take care of herself and there was something lovely about her sister keeping her clean and giving her cuddles.

Whether your cats have been spayed/neutered can also make a big difference. For a short time before my boys got fixed they started getting a bit too aggressive with each other at times. They are back to playing normally now :) IMPORTANT NOTE: A male cat can still get a female pregnant for a short time after you get him fixed. Learned that one the hard way, couldn't figure for a bit why my girl kitty didnt look right. 😅
