Wes Streeting really does want to privatise the NHS

Wes Streeting’s plans for the NHS all have one purpose, and that is to increase the role of the private sector and big pharmaceutical companies within it, at cost to us, the patients. He should not be trusted.

As far as this govt and Streeting in particular believe, improving the NHS means more profits for US "heath care" providers.

You are so right.
My wife needed an endoscopy for stomach problems.
The NHS outsourced it to a private hospital, but then they contacted her to cancel the appointment because her case 'was too complex '. She is on blood thinners and has SLE.
Private medicine just wants to cherry pick the easy cases.

A clear and frightening description of the future of the NHS.

Streeting has worried me for a while. I’m glad that others feel the same way.

Richard's analysis, I am sure, is spot on

If they were serious about prevention they would be doing more about the toxic living conditions our society promotes, for those without the resources of the wealthy: like high levels of air pollution; low-paid work; high rents for poor quality housing; poor quality, highly advertised, processed food; stress-laden education system. In other words all the things that a government, that represents the interests of ordinary people, should be tackling.

30+ years ago Finland had the highest rates of type 2 diabetes, obesity and heart disease in what we might call the "developed" world. They embarked on a genuine policy of prevention, ranging from free school meals to ensure children got a high quality meal every day; restricted advertising of food aimed at children; built subsidised leisure facilities such as pools and gyms; rolled out education programs for all age groups that encouraged more active lifestyles and better diet.
It worked, they now spend the same as the UK per capita on health provision but overall have a much healthier population. They have a genuine health service, we have a sick service and Streeting ideas will only exacerbate that.

Wes Streeting has said it plainly live on the BBC that privatisation is the future of the NHS.. But you get called a Tory for pointing that out.. The frustrating thing is that seeing as he's receiving money from one of the largest health insurance lobbies in America, you can guarantee that he'll adopt the American model, not the European one that actually works..

As always, the arguments given here are clearly stated and very convincing. Keep it up amigo! It's really important for the public to know what those in power don't want to tell us - especially when dealing with Big Pharma and neoliberal "solutions".

*Amazing video, you work for 40yrs to have $1M in your retirement, meanwhile some people are putting just $10K into trading from just few months ago and now they are multimillionaires*

Of course the politicians want to Americanise the NHS, that's where the money is...for the politicians.
Private medicine spends millions of pounds on advertising in our extreme right-wing corporate media.
Hedge funds pump millions promoting private hospitals, care homes, clinics, homes for the elderly, medicine, therapy etc.
Probably a majority of GP's would favour abolition of the NHS. Dr Charles Hill, their spokesman during the 1940s, associated the NHS with Stalinism.
NHS dentists are a vanishing breed on Britain's high streets. What have Labour ever done about that? Precious little.
They call it the people's right to choose. What does it lead to? Just look at some of the Third World countries.

So cool, you have single handed saved me explaining myself when I stated the other day, that I don't trust that Wes dude.👌

US pricate health care interests did not buy him and expect nothing in return.

We were told NHS in dire straits. Which we already knew. We were told no new money. It was only a matter of time before the answer was privatised.

Most of us knew this was coming, especially from a Labour government that is now right wing and unashamed of it .

Glad you are watching Crispin Flintoff and Dr Bob Gill. Some very good coverage of the issues. Not comforting!

Exactly right regarding existing digital consultation. Hospitalisation abroad and any treatment given can already be transferred to medics in the UK.

Starmer, reeves, streeting, labour, I don't trust them never have and never would, never voted for any tory party.

I think you are on the right track, only thing is that I do believe digitising is a necessary action for any state services to do. I do believe that AI will be a potential lever but AI needs big data. Big data is aquired through digitisation. The privitasion component of that, I don't know.

I have no doubt that Starmer, Sweeting et al will receive high end free private health care not the low grade private health care that will be available on the NHS.

Streeting intends to Americanise the NHS. Not acceptable.
