Health Secretary Wes Streeting says there will be 'zero tolerance for failure' in the NHS once his reforms are brought in. Susanna Reid questions his plans to introduce football-style league tables to determine which hospitals deserve more cash and which managers should be sacked.

Failing politicians should be named and shamed !

I'm an American, retired from a career in health care administration. While we have for-profit and not-for-profit medical systems here, there is one constant: don't blame the employees, blame the management. I found in 40 years of hospital work that almost all health care workers want to do a good job. In the US here, if the management can't measure up, they're out. I've followed the NHS in the news for a couple of decades and I still think that the corporate structure in the trusts is unhealthy. I love hearing that management may finally be held responsible.

There would have been ample money extra for the NHS...If it had not been for Brexit...which has cost billions..in lost trade...and the building of the colossal money pit ..HS2...why are we building it ?

I like that this should get management to sort themselves out. However, i worry about the detrimental effect this could have to medical/nursing staff, when morale is already at an all time low

NHS are the worst for wasting money seen it working in the NHS.

Oh Good Grief! Can you imagine how a critically ill person would feel having to be admitted to a named failing hospital?
By all means remove bad managers... but don't leave hospitals with a label of failure.

Reverse NHS privatisation. Funding an increasingly fragmented private health system is like filling a bucket full of holes.
Every pound put into profit is a pound taken away from care. Fragmented order books pay higher prices.

This man has never run a business in his life. He hasn’t got a clue. So he is going to give GP’s tax payers money to compensate the rise in employers NI, this government is trash.

He has a tough task, doesn’t help his only experience is public sector and the NHS is a complex beast. League table and firing managers isn’t smart, it is an indiscriminate big stick. The trusts will spend all their time trying to game the system and blame everyone else.
It has been tried before and it failed. If this is his big idea it is pretty feeble.
