I'm no longer cutting the spikes all the way down. Just feel them, cutting it from the dried up part only. And since my friends make some ZPT balm for Orchid, Cacti and Hoya. I could use the balm on the spikes node. So it could branch out some new spikes or a new baby orchid.

for paelionopsis orchids,
don't cut the flower stem.
only cut the flower stem when that part dries and dies. new flower spikes will grow from those spikes you are cutting.

I’ve had my orchid for 4years, she’s rebloomed twice a year and doubled in size and gave me 2 beautiful branches of flowers to adore from the 1 branch she had one I was gifted her🥰 I feel awful for never having repotted her. I don’t have the money for the orchid medium 😢 but as soon as her leaves fall off I will do my best to get some and treat her as she should be treated. I’m so thankful she still blooms ❤❤❤

Cutting the w h o l e spike is a bit excessive considering you can regrow new flowers on the lower bits after a bloom but eh personal preference i guess

Had an orchid with blooms that I accidentally let dry out sooo much all the blooms dropped off. I cut the flower spike back to a dormant node and have a new bloom brach growing 😊

Sometimes if you cut above the joint in the stem below the spent flowers the plant will send up an additional flower spike from the same flower stem. I was surprised when it worked on one of my orchids. Thanks for the orchid care tips!
