How to build a Wooden Swivel Bike Rack!

Показать описание
In this video we are building a wooden swiveling bike rack for easier, better, and cleaner looking mountain bike, road bike, e-bike, or any other bike storage! I show you how to build this with both hand tools and power tools. These types of bike racks are the best because you can move it out of the way when it's not in use. And if you have lots of bikes, it's very easy to store multiple bikes next to each other.

Check out U-Haul's huge selection of bike racks!
Use Code "BTB" for 15% off any bike rack

HANDTOOLS
Brace Drill or Crank Drill - go to an antique store and buy one for 10 bucks! They're everywhere.

Like My Pants? Use Code BTB10 and get 10 percent off the ones I wear!

Massive respect for showing construction using hand tools and basic methods! You prove we dont need a fully stocked woodshop to make something great!

Pro-tip: When gluing end-grain, especially with oak, put some glue on the end grain and massage/press it in with your finger so it will absorb, wait a few minutes, and then apply more glue and assemble the whole thing. The end grain of wood is basically just a bunch of tiny straws, so it tends to soak up glue, and as a result the glue joints tend to fail. By presoaking them with glue and letting it harden up a bit you can reduce the likelihood of running into problems with it.

Hey Seth! Fellow Missourian/MTB girl here! Just wanted to say that the production quality of your videos is outstanding! Also love your passion for woodworking and how you’ve integrated it into your mountain biking hobby. I enjoy both as well!

Great video. It inspired me to build my own to replace the floor based bike storage I have in my work shop. I actually built four of the racks using different types of wood. First rack I built out of Red Oak. It's definitely strong and holds my Specialized Roubaix with no problem, Rack # 2 I built out a Red Oak & Poplar. Again nice and strong and holds my DIY Bamboo Gravel Bike with no issues. Racks 3 & 4 are built out of Birch and are for my Mt. Bikes. I built all four over a period of 5 days and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. I gained just over 20" of floor space and the bike storage looks 100% nicer. Thx for the video once again

I've watched this twice and I'm still impressed. Suck part is I just remodeled my garage last year. Might have to rethink.

just finished making this and it has saved me tons of space I previously couldn't fit my car in my garage and have my bikes in there, after making these I can now have my car in my garage also. :)

Quick way to get the inside radius-you can drill a hole using a hole saw (whatever the radius is). Then all you have are the straight cuts.

Thanks so much, I've been looking for something to hold my bikes that was out of the way and now I can build one that just doubles the fun!

Awesome look. I discovered a trick when designing a Murphy bed using gas pipe. If your vertical pipes were 3/4” with T’s top and bottom, you could mount two horizontal 1/2” pipes stood off the wall slightly that would pass through the 3/4” T’s. Now your racks can swivel and slide.

Next we have to figure out a rack that can hold a rear wheel and we’re really saving space!
