Why all of the negativity? Cheap and easy that almost anyone could do. Let this lady do what she wants to do... It's hers. You build yours the way you want... Or pay someone to do something that you don't know how to. Props to her for doing it the way she wants to. Better than complaining!!

Literally if you just added *one* extra step of levelling your ground and adding some posts, you’d be set. Unfortunately you’re definitely gonna feel the deck being lopsided in 3 months with this method

Of course you can do it in one day!!! The real question was how long until you will have to redo or fix it :)

it's reasons like this why there are building codes. but hey it's youtube where you don't have to do anything correctly if it looks good to the masses

It would be a good idea to set it up on some sacrificial blocks you can change out every few years, or pavers. Even ground contact lumber will rot with time. That's a lot of money in lumber, and your time...don't want to see it go to waste.

Is it true that this will NOT LAST for even 3 years?

Shouldnt you flatten the ground to make sure the wood sits even before placing the black tarp down? Just seems like the deck is going to wobble. Am i wrong?

This isn’t going to stay level very long. Your center joist has the wrong hanger attached. You need posts with footers to keep it level so it will remain level for years to come.

2 day build with post keeping it off the ground would’ve been more impressive. It just isn’t gonna last on the ground. Your framework might be level now but the ground doesn’t seem to be and I don’t think it will take long for it turns to shit.

You shouldve gotten the steam presssed 2x6's for the termites not to mention the rain on the ground itll were out quicker

Get a impact driver you will be amazed at how nice they are compared to that drill you are using and deckmate screws with torx heads and earplugs ❤

Here's one tip for you. Never use screws when you're framing a deck.
Do this test and you'll see why. Take a screw and screw it halfway into a board. Take a nail and Hammer it halfway into the board now take your hammer and hit the screw back and forth trying to bend it and you'll see how quickly the screw breaks. Take the hammer and hit the nail back and forth and you will see you can bend the nail back and forth quite a bit and it might not ever break. Screws are only used for securing the decking not the framing

This type of deck would require the ground to be level before placing the deck down. Sounds relatively easy but requires quite a bit of leveling adjustments. This job just must have been more difficult and time consuming than it appears to be.
