Throughout the last 30yrs, I've owned 7 VW's (5 Golfs, 1 Passat estate 1.6tdi and currently 2021 Tiguan Allspace 2.0tdi).
I always tend to buy ex demo models with only a few thousands miles on them.
The latest one was only 2 months old when purchased in Jan 2021 with 900 miles on it - it now has 23, 000 miles on it and no issues so far. The same can be said fot the previous 6 VW's I've owned, no issues whatsoever - keep them serviced and don't abuse them and they seem to be I been lucky with my previous 7 VW's ? I dont think so!
Last points regarding new cars
- too much electronics/software, which appear to be unreliable.
- 'Lane assist' got switched off the first day of ownership - if you need lane assist you shouldnt be driving!!!

I’m always amazed how willing people are to pay for overpriced, unreliable, expensive to maintain German vehicles that are nothing but everyday vehicles in Germany. You even see them as taxicabs there.

I had two VWs and the second one had a dangerous delay with the transmission when after backing up, it delayed in engaging into drive (automatic). I took it back and they supposedly did something but what ever they did was not the solution. I even wrote to VW about the problem and they blew me off. I traded it for a Honda. Never again will I own a VW!

Never buy a Mk1 of any vehicle, always allow for initial launch improvements. However every manufacturer looks for cost saving mods to maximise profitability. My ex company had a cost saving team that examined new vehicles after initial launch who forensically looked for cost savings eg 3 trim fixings instead of 4.

I have two Chrysler products, one has 355, 000 miles it and the other one has 306, 000 miles on it.

I have a 2022 Nissan Frontier and zero issues after 2.5 years. This video is wrong
