This obsession with beauty is killing people, I'm a 19 afro latina girl and I've been so obsessed with looking pretty all the time that there was days that I didn't want to go out cuz I didn't look pretty enough, I even thought that I wasn't worthy living because of how I looked.

Honestly, this videos make me feel gorgeous for being normal and natural 😬 I’m proud to look human and not stupid and uncanny

This is why I like taking pictures with no filters and embrace my own beauty, showing my acne and acne scars. And also taking a break from social media as well.

As an 18 year old Puerto Rican guy, I appreciate the commentary and editing.

Every now and then I find myself thinking "I'm glad I grew up without that!" or "I'm glad that wasn't around when I was a kid"...but stuff like this is so much worse because it effects and affects EVERYONE, regardless of age (or sex or race or any other factor). You can't ignore it, you can't be too old for it. It is there, it is unavoidable, and it is only getting worse. I took a selfie with my friends 8-month-old baby and it smoothed her face! My phone actually had the nerve to "improve" the skin of a baby! It was a built-in setting I didn't even know about!

I worry for the younger generation coming up in the world behind mine (I'm 30, for a reference point). Even though I don't always love my looks, I at least can appreciate that these things aren't attainable normally or even healthy in a lot of cases, but the younger group...they're just bombarded with this stuff constantly. I worry for them, and I hope we can help them navigate it as healthily as possible. Your body is your body. Does it have curves, some wrinkles, some cellulite? Excellent, you are certified as a human, congratulations! I hope we can help both my generation and the younger ones behind mine to understand that as long as you're human, you're beautiful as you are, there will always be someone who will find you desirable, and, most importantly, that being desirable is not solely based on your looks at all. It sounds cliche but it's a cliche for a reason: beauty doesn't stop at the surface, and self love isn't about what you look like.

the more im off social media the more i like myself. When i was in Japan I felt so self conscious and huge in comparison... :/

I love ur content... i actually went thru this years ago with just makeup. i started to HATE the "raw" me without makeup so much that i would often feel depressed after taking my makeup off at the end of the i would even cry sometimes. after awhile, i decided to lay off the makeup for awhile (which i didn't even really enjoy that much in the first place), so that i could re-learn to love my actual face again.... i think makeup is AMAZING when it's fun and you still like urself. but that wasn't what i had been using it for. and that made me really sad. i want to love ME. even if the rest of the world doesn't think i'm pretty. cuz ur ABSOLUTELY right when you say that none of this shit matters😆. but, in the best way. nowadays, i use mostly a tinted moisturizer, mascara and a little highlighter and if i'm feelin froggy, some eyeshadow. lol. and i don't hate my own face anymore. so i call that a win. but that's just me. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for making this video. THIS is the kinda stuff i wish we would talk about way more. Sending 💖

The fact my ex is always saying they have such a nice body & faces when we all know is not real still blows my mind 😂

correction: these type of beauty standards exists in East Asia, not all of Asia. if you visit Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Iran, Syria, you will not find these type of crazy standards. these are exclusive to China, Japan and specially Korea

Not even joking guys… one day I was laughing while in my bathroom and saw my smile and I realized how pretty I was! I started wondering why I was so insecure about my face shape lol. Although I still don’t like my pimples… I take care of my skin RELIGIOUSLY and I still break out, but I feel pretty ☺️

I'm living for these videos- and I think it's interesting how people denounce both filters and a natural photo online. At the end of the day I personally think it's about making sure you're happy with yourself & practicing self-care but not self-indulgence. Love the critical perspective you take on beautification tools & thank you for sharing!🎉❤

omg, this is scary! We all know that what you see in magazines and on tv are not real, we know there's photoshop and editing but the whole body/face tuning that East Asia has is on another level! There were SO many times where I'd see a picture of the "doujin" makeup on pinterest and tried to do that make up on myself only to fail, thinking I'm just not good at putting on makeup but now I'm pretty sure it's just a filter! I mean there are people who are really good at makeup (I think, not really sure anymore lol). Anyway thank you SO much for shining the light on this! I can give up on trying to apply the filter with irl makeup!
