My favorite car presenter. Clear, no nonsense presentation and always entertaining. Thanks, Brian!

The "power" improvement you feel with a high performance air intake is the better throttle response you get, since the (negative) air pressure in the intake doesn't need to build up as much to get the air flowing through the filter.

Benefits are minimal.  You can buy a K&N air filter just for the stock assembly and obtain the same result.

A kit similar to this on my 2015 4Runner made some gains when driving on steep uphill mountain drives between the Rockies of Alberta and British Columbia. Although not plenty. Makes noticeable gains on around 5000rpm.

Funny lil tip for you folks out there, Cold Air Intakes (CAIs) actually reduce the power on most cars, especially low end torque response, and just let more junk in while increasing noise

You are the car-Dr.House, not only for the way you explain things but also for the knowledge you have. Nice video, thanks for uploading

Cold-air intakes are relatively cheap and simple to install. If they were better than OEM then they would simply be the standard. Adding performance at a minimal cost is a manufacturer's dream since it would add value to their product.

Brian Cooley is the cooleyst guy in the automotive review industry nowadays, that no doubt.

These types of videos are definitely the best.

@6:18 black smoke coming out of the exhaust tells me that the air/fuel mixture isn't optimal (and could eventually damage the catalytic converters). Not to mention fuel consumption would be even higher now on this already gas guzzling monstrosity. Moreover, it's pretty ironic that this video is called "Cold-Air filters" when in fact, this new filter will instead suck warm/hot air from the engine bay...

Complete BS, don't waste your money.Just put a performance filter into the stock air box.
Now he is sucking hot air from the engine bay.
Don't fall for it guys.
Its just a K&N ads

Works great if you drive foot to the floor all the time. Every car I used this on dropped MPG, and made more noise form the intake. Sounded fast, in reality just sounds meaner.

Do more installs like this! This was great

I agree with all the stuff Cooley said in the intro, except for the fact that a stock airbox will do just as well or better than a "CAI" kit. The way the air box was set up in stock form, was actually more effective than the K&N intake. All the extra plastic chambers are there to work as sound resonators and the paper filter is just as effective as the cone type. The marginal gains that were illustrated would be considered negligible, when compared to the total output.

What does it mean when Brian says removing the plenum from the throttle body "may change some of the cold weather behavior of the vehicle"?

Cooley. Informative video every time and he does it with lots of swag.

that shiny metal tube you just installed will attract engine heat faster than the oem plastic tube. if that pipe is insulated the air will be denser and improve performance.
