The backhand blades are one of the most satisfying new weapons to use in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. These blades are lightweight, they offer incredibly fast melee attacks, long combos, and come equipped with the Blind Spot Ash of War which turns you into a true assassin allowing you to quickly dash behind enemies. This dash is incredibly powerful because it dodges enemy attacks, deals piercing damage and breaks the guard of any enemy using a shield.

Your highest stats on this build will vigor, endurance and Dexterity. I currently have 60 vigor on this build and to be honest, I wouldn’t go lower than 50 for the DLC since the enemies hit very hard especially with lower scadutree blessings. 15 mind is more than enough since the Blind Spot ash of war only requires 9FP to execute. You’ll need roughly 40 endurance to wield the backhand blades and equip the solitude armor without having to rely on any talismans to increase your equipment load before you get too heavy. I have 80 dexterity to help me reach the maximum amount of damage and keep in mind, if you decide to use this weapon with the keen affinity, you can achieve S tier scaling for dexterity. And lastly, 39 arcane. The further you increase arcane, the more blood loss buildup you can achieve. I believe you only need 38 arcane to reach 100 bloodloss build up which is more than enough in my opinion.

The main and only weapon on this build is a fully upgraded Blood Backhand Blade. Even though this is a singular weapon on paper, it actually turns into two blades when you two hand the weapon. 481 physical attack power, B tier scaling for dex and D tier scaling for arcane when using the blood affinity, and 100 blood loss buildup.

For the armor I’m using the full solitude set. This armor provides incredible defense for your character and gives you nearly 100 poise which will allow you to execute more consecutive attacks without being interrupted.

The first talisman combination I’m going to show you is the one I’m currently using. First talisman I have is the dragoncrest greatshield talisman which enormously boosts physical damage negation. This paired with the solitude armor set will give you a massive amount of survivability. Next, one of the newer talismans in the game that can only be found in the land of shadow, the two headed turtle talisman. This is an upgraded version of the green turtle talisman from the base game and provides even faster stamina recovery speed. I’m also using the rotten winged sword insignia which greatly raises attack power with successive attacks and lastly, the lord of bloods exultation which increases your attack power by 20% for 20 seconds whenever blood loss is in the vicinity.

For my wondrous physick mix I’m using the dexterity knot cracked tear which +10 dexterity to your build and the thorny cracked tear which increases your damage up to 20% for each successive hit.

You can use white mask for more damage if you're tryna go a bleed build with backhand blade. You can also use lord of bloods talisman + white mask for basically 20% more damage with blood loss in vicinity. Its also good to keep increasing arcane too.

tried first bleed DEX/ARC with backhand blade and hits decent, switched to keen with pure DEX and it melts everything, on 80 dex scale S. I have the same talismans but i use blue dancer charm instead dragoncrest, light gear only for "fashion" and melt everything

You can take this build a step further and put the sacrificial axe in your offhand but 2hand the backhand blades and the sacrificial axe will regenerate 4FP on kill, further reducing the FP load of this build.

I used hook claws with quick step the entire main game and then I picked this up. What a perfect upgrade!

This weapon IS a game changer when you adapt to the DLC. Its ashe of War is power full and IS usefull in any part of a fight (lightning first attack, last hit on a boss)

I used this build (not exactly - a little different) to finish the DLC and I found the build able to zerg bosses so easily.. I've beat so many bosses in under 20 seconds that I've skipped so many mechanics

I love the backhand blades in one hand and the smithscript cirques in the other hand for chipping damage or roll catching with R2, with the same setup as on this video. Its really great. I switch between holding each wep with both hands. I have the blind spot on the cirques and blade dance on the backhand blades. Its so good.

It's basically *Bloodhound Step* ash of war just without the huge blade because I noticed that you vanish when using this ash of war but instead of vanishing forwards, backwards, and to the side of an enemy you just immediately end up behind them hence the name *Blind Spot*

Using this with Keen affinity, Milicent prostesis, sword insigna, twin head turtle and Dragoncrest greatshield talisman. It destroys everything. So much damage, mobility and overall survivability. Love it !

As much as i wanted to make a dragon heart centered build, this is way more my playstyle

I use this, with milady as well to switch to just because its a cool weapon. I have no arcane tho and have gone faith for golden vow and bloodflame blade. Guessing your build will be a lot more effective

Best bleed build is STR/ARC Bloodfiend's Blood Arm. 200+ bleed buildup on hit and the heavy R2 hits twice and staggers. Enjoy before it gets nerfed!

A lot of the questions in the comments could have been easily googled. Props to u for making a great vid and then answering everyone's questions! I'm trying to make a ninja build with backhand blade and dryleaf arts, currently debating between doing a blood loss build or going pure ninjutsu with a keen affinity. Those dlc bosses seem kinda tough so i may fold and go bleed, i'm no legend at this game lol

Decrease points in dex & add to str. Dimininshing return once dex reaches 55. AR will increase more if you add to str since blood backhand blade also has str scaling. Try it.

I have picked up most of the weapons in the DLC and always seem to come back to the backhand blade, it is just fun and fits my play style really well. I have basically settled on using this and the Dryleaf Arts with whirlwind slash.
