If following Jesus is really the biggest decision of your life, it can’t remain private. In fact, one of the first things God asks us to do is make this decision official in a very public way. After Peter presented the Gospel for the first time in Acts 2, the Bible says:

When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.” Acts 2|28-39

If you have made the decision to believe in Jesus, it’s time for you to get baptized. This baptism should be very public. Often, people will think:

“I’m not ready!” or “I am not good enough!”

No one should get baptized if they are not ready, but this decision isn’t about being “good enough” or “living a perfect life.” It’s a declaration of your belief. It’s a statement of commitment.

You don’t need to get cleaned up to take a bath.

Baptism is not a clean slate for people who want to start over. Baptism is a public decision to follow Jesus. If you are “all in,” then you are ready!

Should I be baptized as an adult?
Maybe you were baptized as an infant and you are wondering if you should be baptized as an adult. The short answer is, yes! Baptism is a declaration of faith. This is not a decision you were capable of making when you were a baby. If you were baptized as a baby that was an act of faith on the part of your parents, but it was not a decision you made.

So, are you ready to be baptized?
