I was living in Idaho (Nampa) when Mt. St. Helen erupted, over the course of the eruption. There was nearly 2 inches of ash on everything! It looked eerie to see everything grey, looking dead!

Interesting stuff. Thanks from Vancouver Island Canada.

Why not just be honest about the video?!
It's a Nova documentary about Mt. St. Helen's

I hate false advertising.

The irony is that the entire America lives under multiple ticking time bombs yet they shamelessly drop bombs on others on daily basis.😂

Theoretical .. if volcano's could vent the gas savely, the eruptions might be less devistating.

I remember when it erupted it colored the sky for days and I seem to remember even a small amount of ash settling in Minnesota! I was like 3 years old at the time but I remember my parents cleaning off my dad's yellow chevy truck.

Someone needs to invent some sort of a device to measure or record similar in theory to how an X-ray device or Cat Scan Device can see into a person body, a device that can photograph deep into the earth to show the internal plumbing of volcanoes, presence of gas etc....don't ask me what sort of device can do this as I have no idea, but until the internal part of the earth can be mapped there really is no way to Monitor Volcanic activity and predict eruptions...

We can see that most of the geological features could have been built literally in a few years and not billions of years.

Totally spoilt with all the requests to subscribe to the channel. Pity as it is such a great documentary

13:15 "There was no sign of life whatsoever" - guess he didn't look behind him, over his left shoulder. That looks like a plant to me.

the adds are obnoxious. No wonder you have so few subs.

hello my name Kenneth Horn of Canada Q: if lava is so dangerous to man why can't they use a laser on the other side of the volcano to sent it away from people?

You are having a difficult time to estimate when or how big the eruption will be but with the history you have and changes in diameter of the crater can you not at least estimate the amount of gas that could have entered compared to now when the crater is larger? From there then predict when the next one could come

Modified original video with fake eruption details? Really? Really?

I don't know why they would think like that?🤔

This documentary looks like it was recording on a cell phone camera... crap

Why don't they just drill massive holes directly into the caldera to weaken the crust covering the magma chamber in order to deliberately cause an eruption? That way they'd know exactly when the eruption would occur.
