BEST BIBLE

Study Bibles abound! There are a TON of competing editions of the Bible floating around out there, and wading through it all can be pretty overwhelming, so I set out to sort through it with a review video. I spent six months collecting recently published Bibles, and going through them in the course of my normal daily reading and research. Here's my report back on what I found, and I hope it helps you pick what your next Bible might be or what Bible you might like to give someone else. Catholic suggestion to add to this pile: the Word on Fire Bible! Besides it's helpful explanations, it's also beautifully designed and has a very readable text format.

The translation it uses is NRSV(-CE) and for now they've only released the first part; the gospels

The '84 Ryrie was my JAM in high school and the ESV has been a go-to in recent years. I really appreciate your perspective on these study Bibles. It's so very helpful to see INSIDE so many Bibles. I'm regularly asked for recommendations on translation, and I am confident in guiding people to a handful of translations based on where I know them to be coming from. However, it is crazy difficult to keep up with all of the bells and whistles publishers are packaging around the text of Scripture! Thank you for all of the time you put into this video!

Great rundown. I picked up one a CSB study Bible earlier this year and have been in love with it. Those frequent notes about the original language that you mention are fantastic. So often they pick out pieces that are either tough to translate or important to how the text reads. For someone that's never studies the original languages it makes it much easier to pick up a Bible that tries to be a bit more readable than some, while also being confident that I'm not totally losing the meaning!

This was so helpful! I just spent this year going through the entire Bible for the first time without just randomly reading on my own. The plan helped so much in terms of seeing the Bible as one story (God's Story). Now I'm looking into considering an official study bible and this video came at the perfect time. The life application bible literally CHANGED me. Their questions to almost every verse are what really made me start thinking and applying Gods word to my life! I love how you aren’t a fan tho lol I love how everyone is different and I love hearing others perspective. Great video!! The only thing I am not a fan of in ANY bible is colour. I hate colour in my bibles lol
I liked sketches - black and white text- sketched maps etc
I’m the odd ball out on this one because I most likely WONT upgrade to the newest life application Bible just for the simple reason they added colour. It really bugs me lol 😆
