Who Are The Sakha People Of Siberia?

Показать описание
The Sakha people, also known as the Yakuts, live in an isolated region in Northern Siberia and are known for their ironwork and pottery skills. They are bold, strong, and resilient and have continued to cope with the harsh living conditions of the region.
They must withstand the Arctic climate, where temperatures can drop to as low as -71 C during winter. Who are the Sakha people of Siberia, and what is their recital?
Origin of the Sakha People
The Sakha are a Turkic ethnic group native to North Siberia. They are one of the largest native ethnic groups, and according to a recent census, over 400,000 Sakha people live in the Federation of Russia. They speak Yakut and the Russian languages.
In the 6th and 10th centuries, local tribes and the Turkic groups emigrated from the south and became a part of the Russian state. Obsessed with power, in 1632, The Russians colonized the Yakutsk Oblast. Subsequently, there was an influx of Russians, leading to a drop in the population of Sakha.
Amidst the uncomfortable situation, they lived in peace with the Russians until the 1930s, when they resisted the "Stanlist Policies" introduced by the dictator, Joseph Stanlin. These policies are a totalitarian means of governing, which the people of Sakha kicked against. Since then, they are known to be peaceful and have had no significant conflicts with the Russian government.
Though they have staged peaceful political protests, none escalated to the point of violence because they have maintained that they have no intention of breaking away from the Russian Federation. On December 27 1991, Sakha became a republic and elected its head.
