A history of #Sakha (also known as #Yakutia) in #Siberia, #Russia, with a focus on the Sakhalar. My first ever video, so please forgive the low-level quality. 😊

They are also known as the Yakut or Yakuts.

As a Korean American, I recently met a Sakhaan. It was my first time learning about Republic of Sakha and the associated history. The whole interaction humbled me like how little I know and learned nothing valuable from the public school system 😅

Siberian history is super under-covered, excellent job! I'd love to hear about the Khanty and Mansi people if you decide to cover the region again!

Love from China. Support you on this video. I respect the Sakhalar culture. As a northen Chinese, I feel a lot similaritis with Sakha people, I mean the Shamanism. I enjoy very much from good video, and I hope one day I can travel to your land and make friends with locals. I wish your culture will be rich and richer and your people will be more and more. Love from China.

thank you very much!
being a Sakha myself, I didn’t even know about some things you spoke about (for example what was happening in Yakutsk in 60-80s in 20th century as I was born in the middle of 90s and raised in the countryside).
it made me want to learn more about my nation.😊

I'm writing a research paper on the Yakuts and the Sakha region and this video has been extremly helpful in getting me started. I'm watching this with my morning coffee and its really enjoyable. Thank you for the amazing video!

Thank you for the video, it is great.
It feels like the part of the video after 1950 was made by a local, by Sakha. It shows most of my concerns about the past, now and the future of Sakha being minority group in Russia.
Thank you again for this video ❤️

2:03 In Anatolia, it is called kışlak (for winter) and yaylak (for summer). In old times, most Turks routinely made seasonal displacements, today only the Yörüks have kışlak and yaylak camps.

Sounds like Russia screwed Sakha over big time. It was a literal genocide. This is an insane level of imperialism, and horrid colonialism.

You explain a good portion of our history in a nutshell, cause it can be 2hrs long if fully explored and explained

I am from Arunachal Pradesh state, Northeastern part of India, we look similar to Tibetans as Chinese Government call us South Tibetans.
People outside don't have much knowledge about our existance in India.
About Sakha people, I just got to know it today. I feel we are in same boats, living as minority in a country dominated by different culture & ethnic groups.
May your people thrive and hold on your unique identity.
I would like to visit Sakha Nation someday.
