Interview local people. A series needs some theme, so many interviews with different generations in the same town.

I think it would be cool if you found a person/family in each country and lived with them for a few weeks to show real life/culture vs just touristy spots. I really like the game idea somebody gave to!

It’s always good to be critical of your own ideas and ask the ‘hasn’t this already been done to death?’-question. But your unique selling point is… you! You’ve been the face of this channel, and most of us will be excited to see what YOU bring us next, together with the other familiar faces of Geography Now.

The fact that you’re being so critical gives me full faith in that the next chapter of this channel won’t be shallow, generic travel content. Can’t wait for what’s next!

How about visiting places tourists don't usually go to and showing how ordinary people live their lives in different parts of the world?

Hey Barbs,
Greetings from Bulgaria. My suggestion is to start redoing your earlier videos (at least the first 50 countries). You are currently at your best and you need to invest in getting out the best quality for each and every country you review. This will give you an opportunity to travel to some of them and do them justice. Hope to see you in Bulgaria, again someday buddy :)

I think episodes about territories that could be their own countries would be interesting.

Places like Puerto Rico and Greenland that have enough people and their own unique culture distinct from the country they’re apart of now. That could be fun and informative

The power of your personal reflection on the Ukrainian ep, and your recent visit to Korea was amazing. Do not discount you in this process, you bring so much and are very watchable. Turning preconceptions on their heads is so valuable and you are brilliant at it. Even now lots of people don’t realise that Kenya has supermarkets and villagers in Mozambic lash solar panels to their homes for their mobile phones. Doing a ‘did you know’ about a place as part of travel would be the unique angle, and being done by you would make is so approachable. When you reveal a bit of yourself in the process we can relate to the subject more deeply. Pob lwc Barbs. Love from Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

I think your traveling videos are already exceptional for also being informative and focusing on places most people don't or can't visit. Your Transnistria and UN Cyprus Buffer Zone videos recently have been amazing!

Hello Barbs! I've been following you since the Chile episode. If I were in your situation, I guess I would do a show about local festivities. Travel to countries on their prime holidays and live the experience. You could provide historical and cultural background, tell us when and where it is celebrated, where to go, what to do, what to expect, and other places with the same feast. It would be a bit harder than GN, but I'd love to see it.

Deeper dives into the countries ! Sometimes I'll watch a 10 min video of yours about a country, want even MORE info, but all i can find is those travel bloggers you mentioned...you could do part 2s where you get to fit in any other cool info you want or go into more details

Okay Barb, something for you to consider: Visit places that once upon a time we’re very important and everybody knew where they were and what was happening there. When life / history moves on many of this places were forgotten by almost everybody not living there, but not for the people living there. So I propose a kind of „where are they now“ only without the“where“ since this is the constancy with places😅.
As an example: I was visiting Saigon/Ho Chi Mingh City this year the first time and also made a tour to the former South Vietnamese Presidential Palace where photographs were showing events taking place there at the end of the Vietnam war. And suddenly I remember seeing these pictures as a child in newspaper or black white news on the TV, and thought well nice to knew now what happened afterwards.
So choose a date, look what has been in the news say 50, 100, 200 or even 500 years ago, what was happening then where and what look this places now.

I adore this channel and used it a lot as a teaching resource back when I was teaching geography.

This isn't a long term answer to your question, but something you could do to fill time while you're looking for the bigger idea is revamp some of your earlier Geography now episodes. The filming quality and research depth has improved a lot since the beginning and some of this earlier vids may benefit from a little polishing, or at least an addendum/update vid for whatever you typically include now, but didnt back then.

One of the things that appeals to me about your videos is the connections you make with people. Whether that's local hosts, or "oh, i have a mate from... And we got together to..." The way the local hosts interact gives a real sense of the people that you interviewing strangers doesn't come close to. So whatever it is you do, i think it should include your friendships

Interviewing locals (including smaller ethnic minorities) and asking them questions about them and their history, culture, languages, etc.

I think you could absolutely carry on the Geography Now model with more of a narrow focus on individual regions within the countries you have covered. Places that you may have gone over in a couple minutes in the original county episode could get a deep dive into the history, culture, language, food, etc. this time, with the added benefit of you actually going to these places and interacting with the people (maybe your subscribers?) there. My country of Spain immediately comes to mind for this, Cataluña is so different from Andalucía, which is so different from Galicia, or the Basque Country. I mean, there are places where you feel like you’re in an entirely different country than whatever the stereotypical idea “Spain” is. I know the world is full of places like this. Doing these kinds of videos on regions would also let you do a sort of mini series of videos each time you visit a country and would give you the chance to experience it more fully. There’s a lot of unique and incredible parts of the world that can’t just be summed up as a single country. I think you’d have no shortage of fantastic material in keeping more or less with your current style.
