Was Windows 8 that bad?

Windows 8 was released in 2012, now more than a decade later, was it really that bad?

8.1 was not bad but the 7 design felt so fresh and futuristic

I upgraded my other laptop windows 7 to windows 10 this week.

The charms menu was a plus. The tiles were tiny and refreshed too little too late!

i reinstalled win 8.1 from win 10 last year and it is NOT that bad, smooth animation and use less RAM than win 10 but sadly, it is no longer support steam

I used 8.1 on this laptop I use for college and honestly it is not bad. Personally I think the os has one of the best sounds for it. Also certain aspects of it remind me of a more modern version of 7 which I like. If microsoft put the time and effort to add an option for the tablet start menu or regular start menu we are all used to. The story of windows 8 would probably would be very different today

I recently installed 8.1 on my second pc.

Works great, uses very little ram and is super snappy on modern ryzen with nvme drive, also has w10 security and has the most wide support for programs and drivers from wxp to w11

windows 8 was literally like vista for me, shit at release, one of my favorite os's after updates (sp2 and 8.1)

I was one of the few to actually love how vibrant and fluid the Metro UI was. I was so disappointed when Windows 10 had a single colour ui for Metro Apps, and even the animations of Win10 were lackluster as compared to 8/8.1. Win11 icons are good, but man I miss the Live Tiles and vibrant colours.

When windows 8.1 came out I started using it and it was actually pretty good. Today I daily drive 11 tho

I stopped after 8.1. I just shifted over to Linux, and haven't looked back. 8.0 and 8.1 were fine.It took a bit of getting used to, but once I got used to it; 8.0 was fine.

I generally make it a rule to skip every other version of windows mainline releases since 2000.

I still use a windows 8.1 laptop from 2014 it actually works really well I can play most games without lag
